FYI ping
While googling for more info if any, at top I saw a three hour old story on MIA having less security hassles and some about the Wednesday hot tar fire at a private control tower (1 hurt). After I read about it I figure let’s take a look at the security hassles one, wouldn’t that be ironic... poof, gone. No lie.
MIAMI - A Miami International Airport terminal was evacuated early Monday after authorities found what appeared to be an explosive device at a security checkpoint.
"A possible explosive device showed up in an X-ray machine at the checkpoint," airport spokesman Greg Chin said. He said the Miami-Dade bomb squad was investigating and had no further information.
Passengers were evacuated from Terminal F, which serves United Airlines domestic and international flights.
Concourse F at Miami International Airport was being evacuated this morning, and the bomb squad was being called to the scene to investigate a report of a possible explosive device. Hundreds of people reportedly were removed from the concourse.
The evacuation began shortly after 6 a.m., according to early reports.
Thanks for the thread, Prisoner6. I had people calling in and asking me about this today.
Why do people seem to always come to me for information? LOL!...
And also:
VIP Clubs MIA has various airline-operated VIP clubs. In addition to these, the airport also has three MDAD-operated Club America VIP clubs that allow airlines that do not have a dedicated club, to serve their passengers. Club amenities and services include: baggage holding area; business center with private work stations, fax, copier, internet access, cable television entertainment, flight information monitors, newspapers, magazines, telephones (free local calls), showers, full complimentary beverages. Club America locations are E Lobby, second level; F Lobby, second level; and at the end of Concourse F, third level. For additional information, click here, or call 305-874-7474.
Courtesy credit to my pal here for pointing this out. :)
That's not very reassuring . . .
I was in the car this morning and heard on all places the Err America station (Jim Defedi Show) that it turned out to be an urn with ashes in which a passenger was taking home to Latin America. Given the source, I don’t know if it is true.
MIA - missing in action at Miami International Airport. LOL
