Republican presidential candidate John McCain accepted the resignations of two of his top aides today in a stunning shakeup of a campaign that has been roiled by financial and political problems.
Campaign manager Terry Nelson and chief strategist John Weaver issued terse statements announcing their departures from the McCain camp, which reportedly came after the candidate erupted after concluding that his top-level advisers had mismanaged the operation.
An angry McCain reportedly confronted Weaver and Nelson about the campaign's operations, particularly the amount of money that was being spent even when it was clear funds were tight. The final confrontation, coming after McCain returned from a visit to Iraq over the weekend, ultimately led to their departures, according to sources......."

Senator McCain...the troops just like someone else better. Nothing personal, it’s just military politics... ;)
What bothers the heck out of me is all day I have seen news reports on Fox and all the other cable outlets and they keep questioning what destroyed his chances. They keep centering on the war, blah, b;ah, blah. CLEARLY his part in the Immigration debacle is the main thing that cost him the support of we proles. Any idiot, except talking heads knows it.
Now if only we can get McCain to follow him...
You have nailed all my problems with McCain.
You have to be right that the Amnesty bill compounded his fundraising problems.
Ha. I’ll take that bet.
get smart johnny VAMOOSE.. at least then you’d free to roam about the country side stumpin and a stompin for this amnesty...thing....time to show the american public a THING OR TWO...!
....I think things work out well..in this the best of all possible worlds.....
PANCHO SANZA
RIDES AGAIN.
and i say ...good luck to you PANCHO..
‘GOOD LUCK, PANCHO’
He should have paid them more than $50.00 an hour....
From the moment he began pushing the bill he was toast. He betrayed everyone, but first on the list was we here in AZ. When his current term is up he will have more than enough time to work on his memoirs, make speeches, and be an “elder statesmman. We will not be sending him back.
You can’t spend the last 8 years attacking your own base, and then expect support when it’s time to campaign again.
I think that’s evidence of some kind of incompetence in judgment.
Who in the world did McCain think conservative, republican Americans were?
Chrissy Matthews was almost brought to tears over McCain’s second implosion in seven years this morning on Scarborough....(chuckle)
The people of the United States and mostly the citizens of Arizona. Maybe he'll "go away" and we can elect a Republican.
The DBM keeps blaming McCain’s support of the war for his demise. They refuse to admit that the only thing he has done right. His support of the war was the only thing that was keeping him in the race.
They will always spin everything their own way.
It's called defamation when it is untrue, like the discredited L.A. Times lobbying piece, and it is illegal. Seriously, are you mildly retarded?
Considering all the great punchlines on this thread, I vote yours to be the best, given McCain’s unwavering support of the immigration bill. McCain can’t sink fast enough, imo.
“You cant spend the last 8 years attacking your own base, and then expect support when its time to campaign again.”
Dittos to that!! DeWine did the same thing, and you see what happened to him! (Irony of ironies — DeWine is heading up McQueeg’s campaign here in Ohio.)
I’m an Ohioan, and DeWhine cost Ohio big time.
I hope this is a direct result of his support for the absurd immigration bill he tried to push on us.
Sweet justice.
A little hint at how things would operate inside a (God forbid) McCain administration. What a freakin' mess that would be...
