Which would have given us President Gore for 6 years at least. I don’t need to say more.

Fred Thompson is a standard Republican candidate as far as his politics go. However, his qualifications for the Presidency are underwhelming.

Power Man/Iron Fist 2008! “Sweet Christmas!”

Actually, if it’s not Mayor Giuliani, I’m probably good with it. None of the other candidates have overtly offended me.

(also, congrats on the Emmy!)

That may be. However, you will excuse me, I hope, if I tell you that I don’t find that particularly comforting.

Once again, you prove just how blindly ignorant you are. I take it you’re from California?

You just confirmed what I said...

Reagan was a Democrat, then a California Republican. Then you ignored the rest because you prefer not to talk about the things he was liberal on...

Pick another screen name. You’re giving my favorite President a bad name.

If CFR is going to influence US policy, and it is, then why do you want no conservative influence inside of CFR?

That sounds just like our senator's office. They told us that unless Kyl were involved, there would be no conservative voice to fight the liberals in the amnesty deal. Well, bottom line was it still was an amnesty deal, and all Kyl did was sell out his constituency and the country.

I do not accept it as a given that we need a shadow government. But then again, we get what we deserve, and clearly not enough people understand the true implications of these fraternities.

Thanks for posting this article. I think the article takes a fair look at Mr. Thompson. I've said many times over the past few months that Fred Thompson has never been a champion of the pro-life movement. He voted the way he needed to vote to represent his constituents just as Mitt Romney said what he needed to say to represent his constituents. I don't have big problems with all of his positions on the issue, but I am at times irritated and amused when his supporters try to claim that he's so much better than "Rudy McRomney" on abortion.

The important point from this kind of article is not that Fred Thompson is a bad guy or that he's going to govern as a flaming liberal. I think he's basically a good guy and would govern as a moderate. The point is that he's not much more conservative than Mitt Romney if he's more conservative at all.

Bill

I sincerly hope it doesn’t devour an otherwise electable candidate.

I agree, I like Fred most because I think he is electable. However, Bush was the same way in 2000 and look how that all turned out. Conservatives are all too often dissappointed by their political leaders.

Total speculation here but:
IMHO a Thompson/Hunter ticket would solidify the right and still give the best shot of beating Hillary or Obama. If Hillary and Obama paired up, however unlikely that is, they could probably solidify the left. If that ever happened, that would give me cause for nightmares. A total crapshoot (more than usual) for an election, and would become the NEWEST closest race in American History. 2000 would be a walk in the park compared to the type of tension that would be in the air. For some reason, that's my gut on what could/might happen. It's something I feel apprehensive about for as well. All of course, a mixture of speculation and heebie jeebies. A what if.....

People like me don't deserve it. Frankly, I'm fed up with being the lone voice crying in the wilderness. I was doing the same thing with NAFTA, and I'd hear the same load of crap. What happens? It's destroying America and has made Mexico worse that before...if that can even be imagined!

I said the same about open borders, and got called a "Border Bot" on here....until it became "popular" to be against open borders because FINALLY blind people were seeing how millions of illegals here are ruining this country.

I'm disgusted with the ignorance...the willful ignorance.

A fool is one who thinks he knows so much “secret” information, but fails to realize that nobody is beyond their reach....

Support anyone you like who has no affiliation with CFR and one of two things will happen.

1) You will be supporting someone with NO chance of winning anything.

2) You will be supporting someone you didn’t know was affiliated with CFR...

You are in over your head. You think you know something that you clearly don’t know, yet overlook the most obvious...

Better study some more...

This comment is a supposition on your part, but, supposing this were an accurate statement, don't you find this honorable?

You’re the ignorant one.

I suggest YOU read up on this.

I’ve done my homework.

I never said we should, I posed the question for those who think they know CFR so well.

As you may know, CFR is full of many conservatives, many liberals and many socialists too.

They are real and they reach deeply into American policy on every front.

So, I want to know what people so concerned about them plan to do?
