“Hardly. Fred simply resists the notion that the federal government is the means to accomplish an agenda, be it right or left wing.”

Amen. The very definition of “conservative”, IMO.

Duncan can’t win even the primary in any state because he chooses to hide himself from public exposure which leads to a fraction of one percent name recognition. You got to be a self promoter to aspire to national office. Hunter has not even appeared on conservative talk shows where he would get a friendly audience. One with even the most scant knowledge of politics would be a fool to take his gesture candidacy seriously. During wide open presidential seasons you going to get a bunch of people running just to pad their egos. Duncan to grandson “Sonny, I ran for prez way back in 2008,” “Did ya gramps?, says the boy. ROTFLMAO

In this respect Fred is very much like Reagan. Reagan believed that solutions to problems needed to come from other sources than the government- a limited government is the best government. I absolutely agree with this.

We really did try. Sadly, we STILL have Carter here — when he’s not running around the world shooting off his mouth telling all who will listen how rotten America is. And THIS is the clown who filled his administration with CFR and TLC people (his National Security Director FOUNDED IT, for crying out loud).

Hang in there — or we’ll all hang together.

I have very mixed feelings on Fred Thompson. He’s clearly not as bad as Giuliani, but I don’t know that he’s really any better than Romney. Which isn’t saying much.

FYI, last I checked, McCain had an 80-something ACU rating. They’re not terribly informative.

I can’t find any evidence that Thompson himself said that

It's in the article:

The Tennessean described him as “a pro-choice defender in a party with an anti-abortion tilt,”

Not “attacks” — unless you consider a fairly well researched recitation of his POSITIONS an “attack.”

This fellow WILL have to answer for those as some time in the coming campaign. If he wants support from the conservative community, he’d do well to deal with them straight up and now.

And this:

“I’m not willing to support laws that prohibit early term abortions,” he told the Conservative Spectator, a Tennessee newspaper, in 1994. “It comes down to whether life begins at conception. I don’t know in my own mind if that is the case so I don’t feel the law ought to impose that standard on other people.” “The ultimate decision on abortion should be left with the woman and not the government,” he told another newspaper.

Except for Giuliani. He’s worse. Because he would destroy the GOP.

As always, trust ONLY in the Lord and put your faith not in man.

There is a distressing tendency today for our short attention span population, conditioned to 30 second sound bites and 30 minute sitcoms, to NOT drill down into the facts lest they find something that disturbs them about their preconceived notions. It’s called “cognitive dissonance” and it’s ALL AROUND US.

“In questions of power, let no more be heard of confidence in men but BIND THEM DOWN FROM MISCHIEF WITH THE CHAINS OF THE CONSTITUTION.”
T. Jefferson

As valid now as it was then.

The Federalist Society and NLG do many events together at universities. The Federalist Society has ACLU speakers at their own meetings, they attend events sponsored by the ACLU with NLG, the Federalists attend events sponsored by the NLG, they put on debates together often.

McIntosh spoke at these events, yes, under the Federalist banner; but NLG recruits at the events just the same.

Sorry but 8 years of dems in White House will destroy the country. I’ll take my chances with Giuliani if it comes to that.
