Okay, so, did this happen at a casino in New York or Las Vegas? The story’s a little fuzzy.

Bravo, to the veterans and LEOs who aren’t afraid to act during a crisis. Those four should get free rooms for the next 20 years. Can you imagine how much bad publicity they saved the Strip?

So why did he do it? "I was drunk," he said. I like this guy. A lot.

I have a feeling that these 4 heros will be will be given a most wonderful return trip to Las Vegas at the expense of the New York New York hotel and casino as well as the city.
They deserve it.
Only problem is that a whole passel of politicians will want to show up and have their photos taken with them.

Zegrean's mug shot shows dried blood between his eyes, on his mouth and right ear. Dillon did not know how Zegrean received his injuries, but said he might have gotten cut when he was taken down by the four men. Good. Civilians may have to take over the role of supplying "wood shampoos" to criminals.

But he was stopped by four men. All of them unarmed. All of them on vacation. Lampert, a zoology major and criminal justice minor at North Dakota State University at Fargo, was the first to reach Zegrean, police said.
He was joined by three others: David James, a Navy Reservist from Jacksonville, Fla., and brothers Robert and Paul Ura, both special agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
"These men are heroes," said Capt. James Dillon of the Police Department's robbery/homicide unit. "The subject was capable and he was motivated to continue shooting his weapon, but he was tackled and then taken into custody after the first volley of rounds."
This is an "after 9/11" mentality - folks function at a higher alert level than before.

Too bad the perp wasn’t Muslim. Then he’d have CAIR filing John Doe suits against the hero’s for profiling him.

So different from the university rampage, where instead of trying to stop the killer, everyone essentially ran and hid.

Drawing on military training and some liquid courage, the 24-year-old university student and North Dakota National Guard staff sergeant jumped to his feet and grabbed the man. ... David James, a Navy Reservist from Jacksonville, Fla., and brothers Robert and Paul Ura, both special agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The perp surely picked the wrong place and time. I do believe the men are heroic but I also, thankfully, believe their training kicked in big time.

Thank God there was a Soldier present! (and a few good citizens)
The cops—weighted down w/PC rules, etc.—would have roped off the city and called their militarized swat teams in for another million$$$$$ operation and who knows w/what results.

Apparently, SGT. Lampert was a standout in Iraq as well, earning the Bronze Star for pulling a fellow Soldier from a burning vehicle while under attack.

The gun fell to the ground and Lampert put him in a choke hold. Soon three more men ran over to help subdue the gunman until security and police arrived. I wonder how long this took!
Once again, the average citizan needs to be able to defend himself, not depend on law enforcement.
