At first, he said, they would only target Shia, but over time the new al Qaeda directed attacks against Sunni, and then anyone who thought differently. The official reported that on a couple of occasions in Baqubah, al Qaeda invited to lunch families they wanted to convert to their way of thinking. In each instance, the family had a boy, he said, who was about 11-years-old. As LT David Wallach interpreted the mans words, I saw Wallach go blank and silent. He stopped interpreting for a moment. I asked Wallach, What did he say? Wallach said that at these luncheons, the families were sat down to eat. And then their boy was brought in with his mouth stuffed. The boy had been baked. Al Qaeda served the boy to his family. ...
The people were jubilant. None of the kidsand by the end of the day there were hundredsasked me for anything, other than to take their photos. These were not the kids-made-brats by well-meaning soldiers, but polite Iraqi kids in situ, and the cameras were like a roller coaster ride for them. The kids didnt care much for the video; they wanted still photos taken. While the kids were trying to get me to photograph them, it was as if the roller coaster was cranking and popping up the tracks, but when I finally turned the camera on themsnap! it was as if the rollercoaster had crested the apex and slipped into the thrill of gravity. Of course, once the ride ended, it only made some clamor for more. Iraqi kids that have not been spoiled by handouts are the funniest I have seen anywhere....

Totally agree with you....urban legend possiblity. Islam is horrible enough without legends.

Don’t take that tone of “voice” with me, SFC. I’ve got 13 years on infantry experience under my belt and would have gladly gone to Iraq instead of that grabasstic homeland security deployment they sent me on after 9-11.
In fact, I was primed to go to SFAS immediately after 9-11, but then my company commander withheld my recommendation letter because of the deployment. Quote: “You’re the best NCO I have and I need every man on this deployment... blah blah blah...” Song and dance.
On my Noble Eagle deployment, I met the woman of my dreams and had to make some hard choices. Continuing to pursue SFAS would have meant leaving her behind.
I miss the army every day. Anyone who knows me, knows that’s not just lip service.
So, pardon my skepticism, but see the post #13 by Shaun_MD. That seems more like it.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it isn’t possible. These people place absolute zero value on human life. When people get to that point, anything is possible.
It doesn’t sound distorted compared to the history known of tribal war crimes.

Saddam and Sons?
I’m not saying it’s impossible either, just that I’d want further evidence that this is actually true...

Hey, if we believed everything we read without the slightest hint of skepticism, we’d be democrats, right? ;-)
Ive seen this kind of progression in Mosul, out in Anbar and other places, and when I ask our military leaders if they have sensed any shift, many have said, yes, they too sense that Iraqis view us differently. In the context of sectarian and tribal strife, we are the tribe that people canmore or less and with giant caveatsrely on.
True. I try to keep an open mind at all times. Trust but verify. I can understand the reluctance to believe that things like this are true. It’s so barbaric and depraved, so utterly evil and inhuman that men of good conscience can’t wrap their minds around it. It’s easier to disbelieve it than face the fact that such evil exists. The fact that it’s so difficult to accept says a great deal about the good character of people who have trouble believing it.
More good reporting by Michael Yon.
Whether an exageration or not, al-Qaeda is pure evil.
Was thinking about RENAMO which among other depravities tossed babies in cooking pots and forced villagers to eat
DK anything about mau mau or Obama Kenyan ancestors
Idi Amin (a Brit installed despot) and Emperor Bokassa (a french installed despot) were both reknowned cannibals
Doesn't take a mental midget to figure out they are capable of serving baked Iraqi boy to influence people.
I have read something like this allegation before, some months ago.
If I remember right, the boy was trussed as for roasting and his mouth stuffed, but not killed, yet.

Yes they are perfectly capable. They are also capable of instituting a global holocaust that would make the Nazis look like cubs couts if they have their way. The terrifying reality is that many people don’t realize it. (yet)
According to bnelson44 “The people were jubilant.”
Visit the Holocaust museum, then ask that question.
There are really no limits to human cruelty, as there are no limits to the kindness we are capable of.
