IS THOMPSON THE ONE?
Evans-Novak Political Report for 7/5 | 7/5/07 | Robert Novak

Posted on 07/05/2007 10:52:26 AM PDT by rodomila

"Far more troubling are the fears among Republicans that there is less to Thompson than meets the eye. He could still seize the nomination and prove a disappointing candidate in the general election. In appearances across the country, from New Hampshire to South Carolina, his speeches have ranged from "pretty decent" to "quite underwhelming." He has not yet had the knock-out performance he will need in order to prove that he is worthy of frontrunner status." Robert Novak

The above is an excerpt from Novak's latest. He echoes my concern that Fred can't beat Hillary.

Fred will mop the floor with Hillary after he sweeps it with her broom.

I have the same nerousness. He needs to get into the race and prove himself before I’m going to vote for him in the primary.

I’m not sure what Novak is expecting. So far Fred Thompson is doing just fine. Wait till the heat is on.

So far, I like what I’ve read and heard in his speeches.

Novak, the Dem, has always been a fan of McCain.

I will donate to the max to whoever is opposing Hillary. Even if that is McCain, heaven forbid.

I've really got to get off my butt and learn how to post links.

Anyways, here's an interesting one.

Could be looked at both ways. Personally, I like Fred, so I see it as Fred ties Hillary without even having to declare, imagine how well he'll do against her when he's actually in the race.

Hillary will beat herself.

She is an EXTREMELY mean-spirited, unlikable person and will NEVER be able to conceal that reality from the American public over the course of an entire Presidential campaign.

Hillary is a "Macaca" moment waiting to happen.

Novak wants someone who will listen to guys like Novak.
Thompson is not that guy...

Novak has great sources inside the beltway, but he has long since lost his ability to discern reality outside of the beltway.

Plenty of time here for Fred.... like a championship sports team it’s best not to peak too early. The brain dead morons and pinky leftists will vote for Hellary irregardless. Conservatives and most swing voters must vote en masse for the Fredster in the general election to succeed.

One can say that about any of the left wing. At least from my point of view, they ARE annoying and "mean-spirited" bitter people.

Novak is doing everything he can to smear Thompson’s campaign. He has his own agenda, and so he’s throwing spitballs at Fred in his columns.

I can't wait for their first debate (that is, if Miss Hillary will agree to one). Fred's deep, calm, authoritative voice and straightforward statements vs. her sharp-edged voice and canned, over-rehearsed Democrat talking points. And if she gets rattled at all and goes off script, she'll be a disaster.

I predict that if they are the two nominees, she'll do everything possible to avoid a debate that she knows she'll lose.

She won't have to. Her minions in the MSM will see to it that any missteps she makes will be buried and never see the light of day.
