Gore: Son's arrest is 'a private family matter'
Updated: July 5, 2007 08:08 AM EDT
NEW YORK (AP) -- Al Gore says he's dealing with his son's arrest in California "as a private family matter."
Al Gore the Third, who is 24, was arrested early yesterday. Sheriff's deputies say he was driving about 100 miles per hour on the San Diego Freeway. They arrested him on suspicion of possessing marijuana and prescription drugs.
The former vice president and Democratic presidential nominee appeared on the "Today" show on NBC this morning. He says he's glad his son is safe and is "getting treatment." He also says he's thankful no one was hurt.
Al Gore the Third completed substance abuse counseling to settle pot possession charges in suburban Washington in 2003.
LOL! Perfect line!
I think young Algore should be afforded all the compassion, consideration and privacy that the Democrat party showed to Rush Limbaugh during his recent troubles.
Yeah, I didn't think a Prius could go that fast, off a cliff, with a tail wind.
Unfortunately, Al Bore will probably NOT step into the 2008 race because of this. He was waiting for Obama to falter, and that looks like it's in the cards. I would have loved to see the Goron and the Hildebeest battle each other in the media!
He was just conserving energy.
He purchased carbon credits for the evening.
Is this the same son who was ticketed for speeding in the Outer Banks of North Carolina a few years ago? I’m sure the old man is pissed because his son was not getting the most MPG out of his car driving that fast.
Driving 100 mph on a public road while juiced to the gills is a VERY PUBLIC MATTER.
“Isnt this the clown who got hit by a car outside Camden Yard? Dad was paying attention that night.”
Yes. It happened when he was seven or eight. I remember that he was badly injured and for awhile there it was touch and go.
Other than that, I don't care to discuss the wod with you.
Hey, Al. When your out-of-control kid kills somebody while DUI and doing 100 mph down the I-5, will it become a public matter at that point?
Oh, but he’s just a mixed-up little boy!
And probably will still be a mixed-up little boy if he makes it to 60.
the 12-year-old is right...
Exactly. DUIs (especially multiple) are not private. They are of public concern.
I see CNN is spinning this story into focusing on how many college students are on the type of drugs that this jerk had on his person.
In the immortal words of Dean Vernon Wormer
“Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son.”
EXCELSIOR!
Funny how the leftwing media and leftwing politicians did not think that Rush’s problems were private problems.
Why didn’t his dad come bail him out?
If he kicked junior in the ass from the jail door to the car door, I’d have a little more respect for him.
daddy needs to lock him in that lockbox till after the election.
My view exactly. since he was arrested where I live, I have a little less patience for the “private famly matter” crap that the Gore family is spinning.
