US Steps Up Security Following Attack in Britain
|
|
|
|
Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff made appearances on several television talk shows.
He told ABC's This Week program there is no indication of a linkage between the events in Britain and any specific attacks on the United States. "We do not have, at this point, specific, credible intelligence that there is an attack, a particular attack, focused on this country," he said.
But at the same time, speaking on CNN's Late Edition program, Chertoff said U.S. authorities are concerned about the threat of terrorism, especially in the coming months. "We have had a number of al-Qaida leaders quite publicly talking about how they want to carry out their threats against the West. So, given that and given the history that we have had over past summers, with attacks in Britain, I think we were clearly focused on this as a possibility," he said. Full story...

“Transcript: Weltwoche Interview with Taliban Commander Mansoor Dadullah”
By Evan Kohlmann
SNIPPET: “My colleague Urs Gehriger from Die Weltwoche in Switzerland has forwarded me the English transcript of a new video interview of the Taliban’s top military commander Mansoor Dadullah obtained exclusively by Weltwoche with the help of journalist Sami Yousafzai. The interview with Mansoor—the brother of and replacement for the late Mullah Dadullah—took place on June 7, 2007 in the region along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan and was conducted by a Pakistani journalist who was supplied with questions by Weltwoche. Transcript as follows:”
TRANSCRIPT SNIPPET - QUOTE:
Q. When you were in power you initiated a reign of terror. Why should the population be behind you?
A. That isnt true. Our government did not use terror, we sacrificed ourselves for Islam.

Report: Foreign Islamists carried out attack on UN forces in Lebanon
Published: 07.03.07, 12:47 / Israel News
The roadside bomb attack against UN peacekeeping troops in south Lebanon last week was carried out by foreign Islamists affiliated with al-Qaeda, a Lebanese newspaper reported Tuesday.
The a-Safir daily said the attack, which left six UN troops dead, was carried out with the assistance of locals who gathered intelligence for the al-Qaeda-linked cell. (Roee Nahmias)

This is full conjecture on my part: 2 days before July 4 when people get together in large groups; just after the England bombings; Dadallah claiming that there will be attacks to England and US...

Not only is tomorrow Independence Day, but it's also the anniversary of:
- In 1976, Israeli commandos raided Entebbe airport in Uganda, rescuing almost all of the passengers and crew of an Air France jetliner seized by pro-Palestinian hijackers.
- In 2002, a gunman opened fire at Israels El Al airline ticket counter at Los Angeles International Airport; three people were killed, including the gunman.

TSA deploys extra security at Houston airports
09:07 AM CDT on Tuesday, July 3, 2007
From 11 News staff reports
Security will be beefed up at six cities across the United States, including Houston, during the Fourth of July holidays.
According to the TSA, the “VIPER” teams will consist of K-9s, air marshals, transportation inspectors and sometimes technology.
They are being put in place because of elevated security concerns and due to the higher numbers of passengers using mass transit during the holiday.

That doctors are involved is particularly frightening.

Yes - I sure can! Plenty of horrid thoughts, including scenarios such as this one below:
U. of C. hospital hit with insulin scare
Authorities call in police to probe 3 suspicious cases 2 of them fatal
University of Chicago Hospitals have asked police to investigate whether “an intentional act” caused the unexplained and overwhelming increases in insulin that apparently killed one patient and put another in a coma.
Investigators are also looking into the death of another woman who suffered from symptoms consistent with a sharp increase in insulin, although blood tests have not been completed to verify the presence of the hormone, according to hospital officials and a police source familiar with the investigation.
All three patients were elderly women being treated in the same wing of the Hyde Park hospital, all were stricken between May 7 and June 5, and none had been prescribed insulin or was suffering from diabetes, sources said. (snip)
