PRESIDENT BUSH: I thank the members of the Senate and members of my administration who worked so hard on the border security and immigration reform bill. I'm sorry the Senate was unable to reach agreement on the bill this morning.
Legal immigration is one of the top concerns of the American people, and Congress's failure to act on it is a disappointment. The American people understand the status quo is unacceptable when it comes to our immigration laws. A lot of us worked hard to see if we couldn't find common ground. It -- it didn't work. ...
Mr. Bush (I’m joining the ranks who can’t amange to spit out the title President anymore): You know what else didn’t work? Your second term. It will go down as perhaps the sorriest in American history. Your decline and utter failure will be studied years from now, in schools and in political campaigns. You went from 60 million votes to a tiny handful of stubborn supporters on a formerly Bush-loving website. Get your daddy’s yacht warmed up and dust off the golf clubs - New England is waiting for you. Tell Teddy we said hi when you sail to the Cape.
You got that right Jorge. Try enforcing the laws for a change.
Hip Hip Jorge! Hip Hip Jorge!
I prefer to think our El Presidente as Ted Kennedy’s lapdog if we’re going with the dog analogy. He can be Mexico’s Chihuaha too I suppose...Kennedy and Mexico can time-share him. Especially if he were to resign...that would be awesome.
I have defended this man so many times for so long and for what.....
....and now I have to say to him “..so long”
>>The American people understand the status quo is unacceptable when it comes to our immigration laws.<<
If the unacceptable status quo means not enforcing current immigration laws, then I agree with the president’s statement. :-)
“it didn’t work”. ...No sheet Shirlock!
Either do it my way (amnesty) or I will not to anything at all. So there!
He is not allowing for any middle ground?
Hey! Mr. President. Here is my immigration reform package in two sentences. (dummy)
BUILD THE WALL
ENFORCE THE LAW
WRONG!!
Open borders allowing illegal immigration and terrorist access is one of the top concerns of the American people, and YOUR failure to act on it is a VAST disappointment.
There, fixed the President's statement so that it says what he meant.
Not entirely accurate. We understand that the status quo is unacceptable when it comes to enforcement of our immigration laws.
What you were trying to force down our throats was status quo plus 30,000,000.
“Legal immigration is one of the top concerns of the American people”
Secure the damned border you piece of trash, THEN and ONLY then come asking for a guest worker program.
I’m not even remotely interested in talking “path to citizenship” for anyone that is an illegal alien.
Illegal immigration is the topic. Twelve million unregistered aliens, foreigners, is not to be fixed by calling it something else.
Send the illegals home!
“See you at the signing” turned into “It didn’t work”....How pathetic is that?
To think I gave so much of my hard earned money to this man’s re-election campaigned. I’ve wore my Bush-Cheney ‘04 bumper sticker on my car for three years, till last month. I, like many others, put in many hours to see this man get elected then re-elected. I defneded him whenever my friends or co-workers attacked him. For six years, I loved Bush. NO MORE!!
Mr. President, YOU HAVE BROKEN MY HEART!!!!
NOW NOBODY LIKES YOU...including the people who used to be your friends.
So, this afternoon he is going to start enforcing the current laws?
Sure.
How about working hard to secure the borders and actually enforce the laws for a change? If your corporate pals don't like it, too bad.
Sir, Congress did act on your version of Immigratin Reform and found it to be unacceptable. Now, if you wish to truly protect our borders as you previously asserted you will fund and build the fence, increase the Border Patrol by 400%, take on the legitimate financial burden that the Federal government has illegitimately shifted to the states.
