The Presidents Statement - (barf alert)
FNS ^

Posted on 06/28/2007 10:31:23 AM PDT by Scythian

PRESIDENT BUSH: I thank the members of the Senate and members of my administration who worked so hard on the border security and immigration reform bill. I'm sorry the Senate was unable to reach agreement on the bill this morning.

Legal immigration is one of the top concerns of the American people, and Congress's failure to act on it is a disappointment. The American people understand the status quo is unacceptable when it comes to our immigration laws. A lot of us worked hard to see if we couldn't find common ground. It -- it didn't work. ...

You and your leader have no credibility on this issue, DevSix. I suggest you drown your sorrows by drinking more Kool Aid.

The only ones I ever saw him working hard for were the illegals. Might as well been president of Mexico.

If only. Mexico's president is serious (as in machine guns and barbed wire) about his southern border.

Why can't we have a president that compares well with the president of Mexico? Or the president of France? They are serious about their borders and illegals/immigration problems.

"You would think people would be gracious in victory..."

Perhaps they're not very gracious because not only do they feel like they've been "had," but they also know the fight has not ended. This was only one battle won today, not the war.

Did you hear the "gracious" Senator Snarlin' Arlen Specter after the vote promising that they would be back in another form, one by one, slipping things into every Bill they pass, until they get their shamnesty passed?

Your decline and utter failure will be studied years from now, in schools and in political campaigns. You went from 60 million votes to a tiny handful of stubborn supporters on a formerly Bush-loving website.

Thats pretty much says it. I used to be a fervent Bush supporters, a total Shrubbery. Just this past month I threw out a 2004 bumper sticker I had been saving from when I did work on the campaign.

We have had to fight this guy the whole second term. I have no effing idea who the hell is advising him, but they should be fired.

I know man...I put up with so much crap from my wife her family for voting for him. I rationally defended this nimrod from baseless attacks and now I have no defense left of him. He truly does not care what we think. And now he will go down as a republican peanut farmer.

Mr. President, YOU HAVE BROKEN MY HEART!!!!

Not only that he broke his oath taken January 2005: "Protect, defend the Constitution........So hep me GOD"! Together with a numbers of spineless GOP Senators who took the same oath.

“I am very disappointed.”

Because the gang bangers, child molesters, and other criminals lost?

We are swimming with the little rascals here in Georgia, they have filled our Jails, Schools, and emergancy rooms.

Your new state law goes into effect in just a few days. I just wish every state was passing such laws.

The 1986 Simpson-Mazolli bill promised us that the border would be secured and employers / landlords would be hammered. It’s about time the FEDS start enforcing Simpson-Mazolli.

I think it shows that Americans place loyalty to their country above loyalty to any one man, including the president. I applaud Americans for that, our forefathers would too.

For attempting such a vile act, they should NEVER again deserve our respect. They should be shamed for all time.

Just as R. Reagan should be as well then. Giving blanket full amnesty sans ANY requirements. R. Reagan and GWB should both be shamed for all time.

What a loon.

Man you love riding that high horse don't ya?

Being civil is "riding a high horse"? Standards have certainly dropped.

I don't have to call him president if I don't want to.

No one said you had to.

He considers me far less than that.

Oh, was he supposed to consider you the President instead?

Remember we didn't want what is best for the country, only he and Teddy Kennedy know what that is.

You're misrepresenting.

He lost the respect of many people who have went to the mat for him for many many years. He sold them out then laughed in their faces and dismissed them as knaves. He's earned the lack of respect he is getting.

I didn't know it was supposed to be a quid pro quo, and the President doesn't seem to be in the habit of selling out or mocking people. He seems to stick to his opinions - right or wrong - and treat his opponents respectfully but firmly.

Only thing I'm embarassed about is once thinking this guy wanted what was best for America.

A typical line of spurious argumentation: he doesn't agree with me, so he must have evil intentions. There is no way he could simply have a different opinion than I do about what might be best.

Tantrums are never helpful.

This whole thing has been a travesty.

I wish he'd gone to the mat over Social Security Reform like he did over this Shamnesty program.

I'd have supported him fully. And it would have been a cause of fairness and freedom for our children, not the illegals and their anchor babies.

I'm very disappointed Mr. President.

I guess it's a reminder that all things in politics are temporal and can change quickly. There is no more Bush-poker, Rovian brilliance, Cheney string-pulling, etc.

That era seems to now have come and went all too quickly. We are left with a fractured and minority GOP, an utterly weak president, and a frustrated and angry populace.

Truly sad and quite head-scratching. But life goes on so we must tuck in our shirts, tighten our belts and march on...

Exactly, you can’t go to a resturant or grocery store here with spanish being spoken to you half the time. THIS IS CANTON GEORGIA AND THERE ARE AS MANY OF THEM AS THERE IS OF US.

Let it happen to these amnesty supporters and lets see how they like it.
