Here we are again my friends, hopefully for the last debate thread on this particular monstrous legislation. Proceedings are supposed to begin at 9:30 a.m. EST, with the cloture vote being taken at 10:30 a.m.
On a personal note, you've all been wonderful in your passion, vigilance, and commitment to the principles on which our country was founded. If I have to be in a foxhole, I want to be in it with you guys.

aw...so nice of you...I should do that, too!
In fact, I will.

My two Senators from Texas voted right all along. Senator Cornyn is our hero, a staunch protector of law and order.I thought that at least one texas senator voted for cloture in the previous one. Not the one that failed, but the 65-43 vote last week that revived this bill.
Anyone who voted for that cloture should not be praised no matter how they voted today.

My vote is DC after recess. It also gives the person collecting time to receive the money. Okay...I'll go along with that.

"Take your irrelevancies to another thread." Thanks for the advice. I think I will stick around for awhile anyway.

Everyone, I'm either getting busy signals at Jeff Sessions' offices or the answering service is coming on. I'll keep trying, though...and if I get through I will post something. (If I don't, it's because I haven't gotten through yet.)
If I do get through and you would like to be pinged to the information, let me know either via this thread or FReepmail. Thx

It is fun today because he lost, America won, and nothing can stop me from smiling:) A day for celebration...for many reasons....the turds got stomped on...and Americans did it!

She sounded happy and said thank you
The phone lines must be burning up with happy Americans...

No. Both Hutchison and Cornyn-beans were smart enough to vote against cloture from the start. Hutch was making noises about the bill being salvageable if she got her amendment, but she voted correctly.

Probably won’t have any meaningful enforcement unless we elect better people to office. What happened to the enforcement Kennedy promised in 1986?

Good idea, but how do we get a bill that will force Bush to enforce existing laws? He has a long track record on not enforcing border security and illegal alien apprehension and employment laws already on the books.

...the borders are still open and nothing will change for over two years because the Dems will not finish funding the fence. Happy now? I'm happy. It's relative - this bill would have institutionalized our suicide. We are slowly dying, but that's better than committing suicide as a nation.

I just called Sen. Sessions’ DC office and said I wanted to thank the Senator for the great leadership he’s shown regarding the immigration bill.
I told the staffer I’m watching him speak on the Senate floor and although I’m not from Alabama I wanted Sessions to know I appreciate his leadership and the good people of Alabama must be very proud of their Senator. She emphatically agreed they were.
