FreeRepublic is not a Bushbot site - its mission statement doesn’t say so. We do have a loud, unthinking minority of bots who reside here, especially on certain “daily” threads, but that doesn’t mean that the rest of FR shares their unthinking hero worship.

I don't hate any politician. They're working under already limited mental capabilities. That being said I don't 'love' any politician either. And I'm definitely not proud of them.
Bush is a politician that doesn't respect the Constitution. He's a hack. That's not good or bad, it just is. That doesn't make him any better or worse than the other 537 (minus a select few) jackasses currently in office.
I disagree with Pres. Bush on immigration reform, but overall I think he is good, intelligent man. It bothers me that this site has devolved largely into a hate-Bush site. I always thought that almost all who posted on FR had the ability to disagree without resort to ad hominem arguments, but lately I have been proven wrong. I think Ann Coulter may have it right, that the immigration reform bill represents sucking up to corporate interests who want cheap labor. Nothing else really explains it. I think that is wrong and poor policy, but I don’t think Bush is stupid or a traitor or a hater of this country. He is just wrong.
I hope that the moderators will consider keeping tighter reins on the hate posts here, whether they are anti-Bush or anti-liberal. We have enough ammo to argue on the merits, and when we do, we reduce the OTHER side to having to resort to ad hominem attacks.
I won’t support him on Amnesty but he has been a good President. I find the attacks on him because he disagrees with the majority of republicans on this this forum a bit repugnant and bordering on the lunacy.
I first came to Free Republic to find reasoned debate and discussion. It is becoming infected by the same virus that infected DU.
While it is possible to find legitimate difference of opinion with GW, it is over the top to engage in this level of bashing.
I support the President of my country as well - and I have nothing but contempt for the filth who write and post articles like this.

It’s not all the hate that bothers me, it’s the hysteria behind it. I haven’t seen such fear and demagogy since... oh, listening to some Democrat hack blame it all on Bush five minutes ago. Same difference.
I think we all still love the guy..but his stubborn
streak, inherited from his Mother, is a key to his
troubles...his reelection affirms his thought, that he
is in charge, right or wrong, and that’s it. My big
regret that was touched on by a previous post...is the
disastrous effect it has put on the future of brother,

I voted for him twice but now he’s stabbed us all in the back . How can you STILL support him ? I went through hell living in NY City and supporting Bush . And now he supportsd amnesty?. Screw him .

Sadly I agree. I do believe he is hated HERE almost as much, maybe more, than Clinton ever was.
I also believe the venom spewed about him and the GOP is what cost us our majority in Congress. Or at the very least a major contributing factor.

Everything he has done in the past is/has been/will be overshadowed by his betrayel of us with the immigration bill. The bill and the bill alone if passed will do more to ruin us then anything I can think of.
