His work reflect a far greater intelligence than that shown by his detractors

Well please educate us about Ted Kennedy's third immigration bill, which will dilute the Conservative movement and any concept of limited government, probably forever.

I agree. The level of bile and vitriol and bile demonstrated in these threads is becoming intolerable.

I first came to Free Republic to find reasoned debate and discussion. It is becoming infected by the same virus that infected DU.

While it is possible to find legitimate difference of opinion with GW, it is over the top to engage in this level of bashing.

“his poverty of intellect”

Many of your points are well taken, but I don’t see how you can consider anyone who has an IQ of 128 described as “poverty of intellect”

That’s from his entry into the military (national guard) that was resurrected in response to John Kerry’s campaign workers purporting that GWB was as dumb as a “box of rocks.”

Regardless of your personal point of view, I take offense that your would describe a sitting president in an insulting way that happens not to be true.

Behavior not be the brightest, and certainly I have differences of opinions with the way he does some things, but to call him a “megamoron” is an insult and a lie

There is a difference between ‘hate posts’ and trying to make sense of the incomprehensible, which is precisely what is going on now.

People are trying to understand why a President who presumably had good intentions at the outset is now prostrating himself before our southern neighbor.

Furthermore, his actions toward our own Border Patrol personnel are beneath contempt (or would you care to explain why those two BP should be in prison while the Mex drug dealer they were attempting to apprehend not only gets off scot free, but can sue for $5 million)

It is as if we have entered some bizarro parallel universe where right is wrong and wrong is the new cultural standard, and at the head of the mess is our President.

Calling for censorship is simply putting your head in the sand. Something is very very wrong at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

The ironic thing is, if he had just kept prosecuting the WOT and made that his focus his last 4 years, he’d have a mighty fine legacy IMO, just with that.

Agree ... what's more by pushing the amnesty issue to the extent he has he's expending political capital he sorely needs with the American public who are rock solid in their opposition. GWB has eighteen more months in office and is going to give a whole new meaning to the term lame duck president.

This piece is just disgusting.

I support the President of my country as well - and I have nothing but contempt for the filth who write and post articles like this.

It's a disgrace.

“Seems freerepublic is fast becoming the new hate Bush website...”

I agree and find it shameful to attack him personally because of a disagreement with his politics

I’m not calling for censorship, I am calling for reasoned analysis rather than insults. There is plenty to attack, I just think it should be done on the merits.

The truth is that this “megamoron” is just about ready to beat us anti-amnestyites at the legislative game.

Yea, give everything away instead of dealing with hard problems while aligning himself with Ted Kennedy and destroying the principles of America which made us who we are. Genius! Pure political Genius!

Are you for real or what?

I first thought this was a ZOT thread. One may very well criticize President Bush, for many things. But one should not deny his intellectual capabilities, nor the integrity of his character. I´m still convinced that President Bush does what he believes is the best for the United States.

I very much admire President Bush

I voted for the guy twice. I do admire his performance on foreign policy, and there's little doubt that he was the right person at the right time when 9/11 happened.

On the other hand, his traitorous immigration policies are absolutely stupid and horrific, and he needs to have his feet held to the fire because of it.

I think you'll find his plummeting popularity on FR and across the country is due mainly to his moronic immigration stance, and he deserves every bit of criticism he gets on the issue.

I don't feel a damned bit sorry for him.

I agree with you both. Could there have been a “better Bush”? Certainly. But I believe he has accomplished a tremendous amount against daunting resistance.

He is a moral man, but unfortunately he has imbibed some very liberal Christian ideas of morality, starting with the delusion that you can improve the world by spending government money on it.

I've long thought it was more that he sometimes confuses Christian principles as appropriate to each individual with that behavior proper to one holding an office. I don't mean he should "compartmentalize" à la Clinton or become as degenerate, no-holds-barred as the dems in general. But, for example, however much "turn the other cheek" is prescribed (a counsel of perfection?) for individuals, it's not right when it's someone else's cheek!

It’s not the politics so much as the selling the Republican parties future for... for...

What does anyone gain again? Oh! I remember now! 20 million more Democratic voters!
