Immigration bill advances in Senate

The Senate voted Tuesday to jump-start a stalled immigration measure to legalize millions of unlawful immigrants.
President Bush said the bill offered a “historic opportunity for Congress to act,” and appeared optimistic about its passage by week’s end.
Sort of like that historic moment in Norway in 1940, when Prime Minister Quisling invited in the German Nazis.
Will anybody in the Senate rise and ask the President why he thinks Jefferson gave as his reason for buying Louisiana, a desire to create a buffer against those the President wants to welcome by the tens of million? It would be interesting to hear how anyone would argue that President Bush is a wiser, more intelligent man, with a deeper historic insight than Thomas Jefferson!
