In their joint appearance on "Fox News Sunday," Sens. Trent Lott and Dianne Feinstein unwittingly gave a seminar on the corrupting influence of governmental power, the "bipartisanship is a virtue" myth and the urgent need for term limits.
During their interview, which was billed as a "rematch" but more closely resembled a love fest, the senators seemed to agree with each other way more than they disagreed -- and this from legislators reputed to be ideological opposites.
The senators were busy congratulating themselves over their collegiality and how nice senators looked during Seersucker Suit Week in the Senate, and commenting on the ignorance of American talk show listeners.
While I'm no fan of incivility, I would have felt far better represented if these two lovebirds had engaged in heated debate and at least one of them demonstrated the faintest connection with us mortals outside the governing class.
Speaking of which, host Chris Wallace asked Lott about his recent statement that "senators on both sides of the aisle are being pounded by these talk radio people who don't even know what's in the bill."

Lott of BS.
Trent is a pansy!!
I wonder what was in Lott’s raw FBI file, that Hillary passed to Teddy K?
Must be nasty. Probably photos from his cheerboy days.
“and how nice senators looked during Seersucker Suit Week in the Senate”
First thing I thought of was, maybe next month will be funny tie week or maybe rock concert T-shirt month.
I am sure Trent went to a number of Meatloaf, Styx, Air Supply and REO Speedwagon shows in his day.
Diane just went to see Heart and the Indigo Girls. She left her shirts in in the back of some girl named Jenine’s Suburu Outback.
What a load of tripe. I was hoping that Brit Hume would have walked on stage and pounded the bag out of Trent Lott for being such a pansy.
,,,Maybe there is something more to those goats than Trent has fenced in his yard...
Lotta lookin’ for love in all the wrong places. Why do Republicans seem to want bipartisanship with libs to whom they always cave, instead of trying bipartisanship with dems who might actually work toward a genuine compromise with them?...nevermind....
Because the Repubs, to include Bush, are like a woman married to an abusive husband. Despite urgings from sensible friends, the woman keeps coming back to the abusive husband.
(1) Dems bash Bush.
(2) Bush tries to restore a good relationship with Kennedy, and other abusers.
(3) Dems bash Bush.
(4) Bush (insert Repubs) tries to restore....
No one in Washington sees a pattern here, but how about ordinary folks?
If anyone needs any more evidence to the already huge mountain of evidence that exists,
LOTT needs to be gotten f$cking rid of the next election. I’m starting to save up for his conservative challenger right now.
About half of the Republican Senators are RINO’s and Lott wags his tail with the rest of the pack.
