Hubby went to WalMart in Pennsylvania today. At the main entrance is a Gardasil booth handing out pamphlets. There was a line of parents so Hubby started a rant. He asked the woman why not just teach your daughters to keep their knickers on? Her answer was because they won't. Hubby responded that our daughter is in her 20's and still a virgin. She responded that daughters lie. He offered to let our "female tiger" talk to her.
At that point the woman asked if he was on his cellphone. He said "Yes" And how about this not being tested on 9 to 11 yr olds, your target group" She responded that it's been tested on 12 year olds. He said "You have no idea what the longterm affects of this drug are on reproduction"
At that point she didn't want to spar anymore and said "It's safe". But by then Hubby had already planted doubts and the parents in line had heard it all. I LOVE Hubby.
Anyone else need to visit a WalMart today?
Not only that but I remember from a thread a few months ago that had a link from MERCK that said most womens bodies kill the virus on it’s own. They’ve created frightening hype in order to sell a dubious vaccine that won’t even protect against all the viruses. For money.
Some people enjoy remaining uninformed.
There are a lot of potential bad outcomes here. If the vaccine is still on the market when my daughters are adults, then they will have the opportunity to use it. However, we’re not interested in being “testers.”
I read the Judicial Watch articles you referenced, as well as the Merk reports on the 3 deaths from sudden cardiac arrest / blood clots and a few of the 1,637 reports on adverse / severe reactions.
I failed to uncover what the population size was for this study. It must have been a huge study based on the number of reactions. Any idea what the percentages for deaths was, or the percentages for severe reactions?
It looks like the concensus is the vaccine is effective for 4-5 years.
I agree with that. Not knowing if one shot is enough, how it reacts to puberty and the affect on reproduction is just too much of a risk.
There could be a variety of long-term side effects. Who knows? I don’t see the point in getting a vaccine for a long-shot infection based on “who know?,” especially when we’re already being checked for the potential outcome of infection (cervical cancer) regularly, and the treatment is simple and effective.
Others think they know it all---they're called self-righteous.
It’s called getting info and activism. Strange comments from someone on a “grassroots activist” site.
Boys can still get cancer from HPV, though not as frequently as boys. And they can still get flair-ups of warts from the disease. It’s pretty freaking common on college campuses, and condoms don’t fully prevent its spread.
This is not activism. It is rude and intrusive.
The vaccine will prevent cervical cancer. I’m not sure how you can argue that it won’t since it is aimed at the most common strains of the virus that lead to neoplastic growth. And HPV is the leading cause of cervical cancer.
I’m not sure what you’re arguing.
Whether or not a child needs this vaccine is another question...
Telling a MERCK rep that teaching abstinence is better than drugs is not rude and intrusive. However, the MERCK rep stating that everyones daughter is a sexually active liar certainly was rude.
Your projection is showing. It most certainly is activism - although apparently not the sort that you approve of. Instead of posting pointless and insulting ad hominems why don’t you proffer an opposing opinion?
Or is that beyond your capabilities?
I think some conservatives on FR have been tainted by the pervasive attitudes of the left. And I was surprised by that.
The problem is faith and intelligence/scientific inquiry are not mutually exclusive, of course, but that's not the way it is being painted. It's intent is to marginalize people of faith and any position they might posit.
The thing is that this subject is just common sense. I read stuff on Gardasil a few months back and even their trial studies were tainted. But common sense isn't overcoming the "SCARE THEM!" hype in the press. This subject doesn't even need Scripture, just the truth.
PS- You people talking about how this loudmouth "saved" some girls are seriously ignorant.
A lot of them have. I see a lot of posts here full of DUish nonsense and support for socialism.
IMHO, you were still rude and intrusive and misleading in your reporting of the episode.
Or is that beyond your capabilities? You haven't done your homework very well.
Hurray for your husband.
