Bush urges Hispanics to push immigration bill Despite its revival in the Senate, legislation's fate is uncertain.
WASHINGTON — President Bush urged Hispanics to lobby hard for a major immigration bill Friday, a day after it was revived in the Senate.
"Each day our nation fails to act, the problem only grows worse," Bush said at the annual National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast. "I will continue to work closely with members of both parties to get past our differences and pass a bill I can sign this year."
Bush's comments came after Senate leaders announced a deal Thursday that would allow the legislation to come back to the Senate floor as early as next week.
But the fate of the measure is uncertain.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Friday that he "insisted on a process to prevent endless debate and get the bill through the Senate."
He said he hoped Republicans would not "stall" the legislation.

Well since someone that works for Karl Rove showed up on the forum the other day......this guy is spewing the same BS Bush does, I’d guess he works for Bush. lol
Is his name actually Chezwick? I highly doubt it. This is what his screename is about:
First and foremost, I agree that all "undocumented Americans" (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) should be deported. Technically speaking, however, illegal aliens can be grouped into two main categories: those working & those not working.
As to those who are working, a more precise term would be "workers with invalid US documentation", since you are correct in that many of them **do** have some form of documentation, whether it's a matricula or fraudulent S/S.
Personally, I'm warming to the phrase "undocumented American". Used correctly, it's such an obvious parody that it provides a two-fer: instant street cred amongst conservatives who are aware of what you mean; and an effective way of pimping libs.
*shakes his head in wonder*
Simple. They believe we’ll fall for the “we must unite to stop Hillary Clinton” garbage. Will we?
The Constitution needs another Amendment - TWO year terms for the House of Lords (Senate). THEN they, like the House of Representatives, will be more responsive to popular opinion.
Hahahahaha!!!!
You said: Unlike the anti-immigration extremists, the President realizes that our only hope is to win over Hispanic voters.
I say: There is NO Hispanic vote. Nor will there ever be. They are not interested.
This is what I see everyday.
The Hispanic in my area are not interested in assimilating, nor becoming American citizens. They don’t want to learn or speak English. They don’t want to pay taxes. They send back to Mexico over half of the money they make from “labor pool” jobs.
No political party should depend on being supported by these people. They are here for what they can get. They are not interested in giving anything to the U.S. or to any political party.
And they are getting plenty. Free education for their children; free handouts by the many religious outreach programs, free medical care, free ride on most taxes and fees: auto license and tags, income and payroll taxes, property taxes.
The “elite” ought to knock of the racialism.
I agree 100% with you analysis.
Should be repatriated.
Technically speaking, however, illegal aliens can be grouped into two main categories: those working & those not working.
You keep digging the hole deeper. I could care less whether they are working or not. They shouldn't be here in the first place. Trying to differentiate between kinds of illegal aliens is like trying to determine who is more virtuous among whores.
Actually I have done that while talking with someone.
They will say undocumented workers....I will say, undocumented? then how do they work? oh wait, they have documents, fraudulent documents which is a felony. Shouldn’t they be called felonius documented workers instead?
They stutter when they hear logic.
bttt
LOL. Write on. These “undocumented” workers have more documents than we do and can get more on demand.
So we can call him a dick now? I mean, that’s what the name he chose means so it should be OK.
He is here to disrupt. A few buttons pushed should make that clear to the mods.
