Details of the immigration compromise remain to be finalized, but top Democratic sources say Reid has closely monitored the behind-the-scenes dickering over policy changes and a finite list of amendments due for consideration. Based on the latest updates on the policy and amendments, Reid will approve the compromise and move late Thursday to put the bill back on the calendar for Senate consideration in the middle of next week.
"He's going to bless it and he's going to get the Senate back in the business of dealing with immigration," said a source in the Democratic Senate leadership.
The principal change to the bipartisan immigration compromise that Reid shelved last week is the addition of $4.4 billion in added border security spending. That money will be added to the base bill to return to the floor. Any other changes to the immigration bill will have to be made through the amendment process.
The base immigration bill seeks to tighten border security, put an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants on a path to permanent residency and create a temporary worker program.
Republican leaders have promised to produce enough votes to curtail debate on the bill and proceed to final passage. Last week's impasse arose after Reid twice failed to collect the 60 votes necessary to limit debate and move toward final passage.
With the GOP votes in hand and a finite list of amendments to be offered by 11 Democratic and 11 Republican senators, Democratic sources said Reid is now determined to see whether the legislation can survive the amendment process intact. If it does, the Senate could vote on final passage of the bill by next Friday, Democratic sources said.

This voter won't. Never again...
You may be right.
One thing is sure...if it is one party...the old Kennedy / Reid ‘white plantation masters’ will NOT be running it.
And who exactly pays for this 4.4 billion - why I bet it’s me and you - just one more insult heaped upon us - they think they can hoodwink us by telling us they are adding border security money to get this travesty of a bill passed, then Congress will say there is no money in the budget for such an idea.
The people here in Arizona are so upset at Jon Kyl (McCain is a lost cause), that you could probably get a million signatures on a petition in a matter of days.
First they sell OUR country without our consent, then they charge us for the costs.
Excuse me, remind me again...what is the advantage to being a citizen of this country...I forget.
What is our recourse? That is what I’d like to know. I’m particularly shut out with Feinstein/Boxer. I call and fax senators said to be on the fence and spam the White House apparently to no avail.
What the hell else are we to do?
At this point I am ready to say that I will support the opponent of any Republican Senator who votes for this bill.
My senators are Durbin and Obama. I’ve called and faxed, but I doubt it will do any good.

Saxby Chambliss had better not be one of the GOP traitors. We'll soon see if Saxby is owned by BigBiz and BigAg, but the bottom line is that he must face the voters again next year.
Benedict Arnold was Washington's best general, yet all his heroic service failed to excuse his treason. If Saxby Chambliss votes in favor of Amnesty and a new flood of slave laborers, all of his conservative votes will mean nothing to his furious constituents. Damn him if he does...
The fat lady is not singing just yet.

BUMP
Ill see you one and raise you...
People are going to be making up bumper stickers, signs for cars, teeshirts...
EVERY politician who votes for this bill (and dont be cute with the cloture vote stuff guys, we are not stupid) must be taken out...regardless of party affiliation or previous record.
People are going to emphasize how the supporters of this bill destroyed their fellow citizens future social security, their sovereignty, their security, and let their country be infested with gang members, and, worst of all...terrorists.
Failure to secure our borders has made us vulnerable to a large scale terrorist attack.
We are going to get real nasty this next election cycle.
Thanks! I was not aware of that organization.
Fine, I’ll give it a blessing when it dies. Not until then.

I see he's gunning for a 9% approval rating down from 19%.
At this rate the only folks who are going to vote for him will be illegals. We see his motivation here. FYI Harry, after you grant 'em amnesty they don't owe you anything...
