A very special posting of this song, for a very dear friend. Thank you Mr. Tonkin, for everything that you did for me. You taught me so much. I learned from you to say "Thank you for your service to our country" and "Welcome home!" to every veteran I meet. You were there for me when my brother was serving in Iraq and showed me what supporting the troops looked like. You were strong in what you believed and you didn't back down from it. You are greatly missed, my friend. Say hello to TC and Maggie and Grand Eagle for me.
The Mansions of the Lord Click the picture for music
To fallen soldiers let us sing Where no rockets fly nor bullets wing Our broken brothers let us bring To the Mansions of the Lord No more bleeding, no more fight No prayers pleading through the night Just divine embrace, eternal light To the Mansions of the Lord. Where no mothers cry and no children weep We will stand and guard though the angels sleep Through the ages safely keep The Mansions of the Lord. |

What a wonderful life — what a wonderful man. I admired him though I only knew of his many contributions to making the world a better place through FR. God must be so happy to have Mr. Tonkin home.

He was one of the mainstays of our Free Republic—and I mean that in both senses.

You have provided leadership and patriotism here within our community and where ever you have walked. You will be missed by many. Thank you again for your service to our country and helping to keep us FREE. May your family find consolation in knowing that you were thought well of among an elite group of American Patriots.

Tonk was one of my all time favorite FReepers. It was always fun or intersting (or both) to read his posts. I didn’t ‘know’ him as so many here did, but he was a hero to me. May he rest in peace.

Unfortunately for me I was not able to get to know him as I came to FR too late. Now I must wait to meet him in Heaven.

2007 Prayer for Our Nation
Written by Dr. Charles R. Swindoll
Almighty God, we pause to reflect on Your character
as we seek wisdom for such a time as this.
In these unsafe days,
You remain all-powerful and able to protect;
In these uncertain times,
You remain all-knowing, leading us aright;
In the unprecedented events we’re facing,
You remain absolutely sovereign.
Our times are in Your hands.
Therefore, our dependence on You,
is total, not partial . . .
our need for Your forgiveness is constant. . .
our gratitude for Your grace is profound. . .
our love for You is deep.
We ask that You guard and guide our President
and all who serve the people of these United States.
May uncompromising integrity mark their lives.
We also ask that You unite us as truly
“one nation, under God.”
May genuine humility return to our ranks.
And may that blend of integrity and humility
heal our land.
In our Lord’s name we pray,
Amen.
