Well of course they aren’t military families.
They are mobsters. They help in their own ways. Tony was assisting in the war on terror, just like his grandfather watched the docks in Brooklyn in WW2. For his son to go in the army and get his legs blown off must be a horrific thought for him, especially when he can take over the family biz and get wacked instead.

I don’t think there will be. I wouldn’t pay to see it and I love movies. I think Chase hates HBO and felt no remorse at keeping his cash cow viable for more milking, even if the chance is small.
I heard they filmed 3 differant endings so nobody would be able to leak how it ended. I guess Chase picked the one that would leave open the possiblity for the Soprano family to come back if they want to in a film..........

I liked the ending because I like making up my own ending. I’m sure that I would not have liked any ending Chase came up with. I KNOW I like my ending!

And here is where you jumping to conclusions goes astray once again. I am no "sir".
For David Chase, the only thought that would come to mind to the wife or Tony is that his son gets his legs blown off, because that is in fact all soldiers ever do, die, get wounded, or screw up.

I am sort of venting some of his comments.
He called it the “fantasy scenario for people who pretend to give a crap about the military but know nothing other than that they pretend to be the smartest person in the room when they are actually dumb as S—t”.

In Demand is great
For those that think the ending was bad...
Just think of that last scene, with the family in a restaurant. This is Tony’s life and we all got to glimpse a little bit of what it must be like to be in his shoes.
Meadow is late, I wonder if she is going to make it here safely. His son is a loser, and even though he is bought off with the crappy job right now, that doesn’t mean he is ok in the head. Every person that enters the room is suspicious and might be the one that is going to kill me. What a way to live that would be. And that is Tony’s entire life. Until he gets a bullet or goes to jail.
His life as a man in control is already over. And we got to feel that way in a small part during the last episode. What difference does it really make if Tony is dead in this episode or in Season 8? It is only a matter of time, and the time spent waiting is full of paranoid thoughts anyway...
For me, the ending was the family still together with many things resolved and Tony reminded of his own advice to remember the times when things were good.
Tony might be indicted. They might all get wacked in the diner a minute later(but I don't think so because there was no threat to Tony's life at that point in the episode).
It was a cop-out to the extent the ending was fill in the blank, but it left us with the characters as opposed to them all shot dead.

Meadow would then have had a smaller more fuel efficient car that would have been easier to park.

"As a result of the circumstances, the final episode of Gilligan's Island was not unlike most others. It was entitled "Gilligan the Goddess" and aired on April 17th 1967. In the episode, three natives come to the island and see the female castaways. The native King announces that in exchange for one of the ladies becoming his "White Goddess," he will rescue them all. To help them get rescued, the women compete to be the "White Goddess" until they find out the winner will eventually be thrown into a volcano. The castaways balk at this and the natives leave... and return with poisonous blowguns. Later, the Skipper overhears that the king intends to throw a dummy into the volcano and keep "Gillianna" as his queen. Gilligan plays hide and seek with the king and secretly takes off his outfit. Finding the discarded wig and clothes, the king is convinced his goddess dissolved before his very eyes and the natives quickly leave the island in fear. End of series."
