I just e-mailed Squantos off-line about this... We've got a rule here at the house about primary defensive weapons and "accessories"... It goes like this -
"It's acceptable to add accessories or sights to the weapon so long as the said accessories or sights don't detract from previous useability, and can be removed with no special tools."
We believe it's important to keep the primary weapon as a "field maintainable" weapon, and therefore keep it simple, while preserving useability.
...just my .02. :-)

A good rule to keep in mind. QD scope mounts might be in order in that case.
