Congrats to your son; he worked hard for that honor, and it will serve him well, no matter where he goes. The Scoutmaster sends out notices to lots of dignitaries; some return letters, some don't. It's so special that your son's included Dubya, the late President Ford, and Rummy!
I know the President believes in his heart he's trying to do the right thing, but I also know that most of OUR problems with this Bill have to do with giving the illegals, legal status. L.A. talk show hosts John and Ken came up with the analogy that it was like someone stealing your car...and then getting to keep it. This Bill gives them legal status, and only if they want citizenship do they have to earn anything. Most do not WANT citizenship.
Those of us in border towns just want enforcement of the laws on the books right now, and the government isn't even doing that. What's to say they can do more, when they haven't been able to do less?
Please try to understand our side, too. There are stories on our local news every night about crimes committed, the violent Mexican gangs, taggings, drugs, rapes. The last names are always the same now. There are some really baaaad elements coming in with the good. Not every illegal is a kind, hardworking lettuce picker willing to work all day for pennies on the dollar. And, why should they become a slave labor group? That's not being kind to hard working folk. That's just giving the Dems their next "victim class of voters."
Thanks for hearing me out. I respect you and truly appreciate all the hard work you put in every night bringing us the important articles to check out. I would never want to say or do anything that would jeopardize our FRiendship, but had to explain why so many of us feel as we do. We can love W and just disagree on this issue/Bill.
Thank you, Snugs!!!
Sorry I left the thread so early last night. I was sleepy :)
Thanks, Buddy :)
Welcome back :)
That is neat! And letters from Rumsfeld and President Ford too ... awesome :)
Congratulations on your Eagle Scout!
Thank you, Kit :)
There he is!.....................LOL !
Ha! I couldn't resist :)
I was so having AI thread withdrawl last night. Then for some reason all day I kept thinking it was Thursday, like since there was no AI it must be Thursday. :-)
I'm feeling that way too ... I had to remind myself that AI is really over--and that Jordin won, LOL. And Blake who? I'd already blocked his beatboxing sweater vests from my memory :)
Thank you, Hoosierpearl :)

HR 1999 proposes that, CyberAnt - i just saw another article on FR regarding same.
That’s another OMG moment! What ARE these congress-critters doing????? Coddling another future Al Qaeda group, that’s what!
Our wittle wightwing talkers, bloggers, and pundits elitist demagogues all are having a collective temper tantrum because President Bush dared to defend himself
I turned Rush off yesterday.
He was wringing his hands, saying the president "so casually cast off" the base.
I don't believe the president did any such thing, and thank you for posting the full quote so we could read it for ourselves. As usual, the president's words were taken out of context.
But that didn't stop Rush and the others from acting pitiful and put-upon.
"So casually cast off"??
LOL! I thought, how many times has Rush "so casually cast off" President Bush? More times than I can remember.
My pleasure :)
Thanks ;)
had to skin 4 rabbits
Uh-oh--wait 'til PETA hears about this! ;)
Thank you, Wolfstar :)
