Thompson In
If you believe this report and we do former Sen. Fred Thompson will indeed throw his hat in the ring for president of the United States. As many readers of the GOPNation.com know, we endorsed Thompson, believing he is the best candidate at the right time to maintain the White House for the GOP. An Thompson entry would shake up the Republican primary process almost immediately and in our opinion, cause one or two GOP candidates to withdrawel from the race before the end of summer. Stay tuned.
Gingrich Getting Closer
Meanwhile, it looks like former GOP Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is getting ever closer to his own race for the presidency. In what can only be described as the must-read story of this early week, the New Yorkers Jeffrey Goldberg paints a GOP in turmoil with its leaders (including Gingrich) at each others throats over the partys losses in 2006 and dwindling chances in 2008. Expect lots of Rove bashing in this piece.
Zoellick at World Bank
President Bush is expected to name deputy Secretary of State Robert Zoellick to head the World Bank. Zoellick would replace the disgraced Paul Wolfowitz who resigned last week. Hmm, another Bush crony in another plum position. Yeah, that will work out.
Did you hear?
The mainstream press didnt tell you but we will: gas prices have started to fall, thanks in part to higher inventories and of course, the passage of Memorial Day. Todays average stands at 3.197/gallon down 3 cents from the high set on May 24. Dont worry, any Fourth of July increase will surely be reported as a price surge by the press, no matter how much the prices fall between now and then.
Drudge Headline of the Day
Gotta love this: I Saw The Climate Change, describing Nancy Pelosis reaction to her recent trip to Greenland. Classic liberalism.

Gore is gonna run on the Green ticket, splitting the liberal/moonbat vote.
Fred wins 46 states as a result!

Those are DEMOCRAT women—they’re women without brains. Who knows what motivates them? You have to be an idiot to be a Democrat in the first place.

Can you believe I actually heard on the local Iowa radio station that a new poll shows McCain to be ahead in Iowa? That bozo's AHEAD???
To: ZeitgeistSurfer
We know that Thompson will win the Republican nomination and the Presidency :) Regarding Al Gore, he may very well win the democrat nomination if he decides to run, and overall he will be the most competitive in the general elections, but Fred Thompson will still win the White House :)

If Hillary Clinton wins the democrat nomination, many people will be shocked to know that she is the first democrat candidate to lose the women vote in two decades.

“Farms need cheap farmworkers.........”
I seriously doubt that’s the reason. Iowa farmers grow corn and wheat. Neither needs a big labour force to “pick” either.
They have machines called “combines” to reap the crop.;)
More likely its the hog slaughterhouses needin the cheap labour.

I think you're right, though it's funny, since the 2000 Gore would be considered the moderate among this Democrat field.
The issue that will determine this will be the war. If the Democrat nominee isn't seen as being sufficiently antiwar, I could definitely see the moonbats looking for a third party alternative. While Hillary has appeased them for now with her vote last week on Iraq, there's still Iran to consider, which will probably be a big issue by fall next year. If she doesn't appease them then, then I definitely see a third party run by Gore or another prominent liberal.
Besides, there are a lot on the left who simply don't like the Clintons any more than we do. There's good reason to believe Gore himself personally dislikes Hillary, and that could be extra motivation for him.

Yep. I agree. I would like to find a way to use Newt’s ideas and energy, for the good of the country, though. Anything positive and that well thought out shouldn’t be thrown away!

Nope. Now way I want to see Global Warming is real Newt anywhere near the White House. I was a fan of Newt's right after the Contract With America. He later showed that he just can't put his ego aside to put our country first. He is very intelligent but flawed. I think he tries to "out-Clinton" BJ.
