Heres an unwelcome birthday gift for Rudy Giuliani, as he travels around the city raising money: protests from fire fighters and family members of September 11th victims.
They've shown up in the past at Giuliani's presidential events. Today, theyre gathering in Bay Ridge, and they have plans to follow him nationwide starting sometime around January, according to Jim Riches, a deputy chief with the fire department whose son was killed in the World Trade Center attacks.
We have all the UFA, the UFOA, and the fire members are all behind us -- the International Association of Fire Fighters, said Riches. And were going to be out there today to let everybody know that hes not the hero that he says he is.
The groups complaints center on the faulty radios used by the fire department that day and what they say was a lack of coordination at Ground Zero.
And Riches disputes the notion that Giuliani provided any form of leadership on September 11 or in the days following.
If somebody can tell me what he did on 9/11 that was so good, Id love to hear it. All he did was give information on the TV
He did nothing, Riches continued. He stood there with a TV reporter and told everyone what was going on. And he got it from everybody else down at the site.
It won’t be over until November of 2008. The nominations will be decided in 9 months or less. What I was saying to calcowgirl is that she will be needed here through the election because she does such good research work.
Meant CP and LP leaders endorse, not the Parties, yet.
Well, actually I think the question is now moot, as Fred Thompson will enter the race, or at least I saw a report this morning that Fred will run.
I suppose, although I’m sure the Hildabeast/Hussein Obama ticket would grow old even quicker.
Union goons or not, is what they say true or false? That should be the only concerned. If they’re lying or smearing, I won’t be surprised.
But if they’re telling the truth, they should be APPLAUDED.
OK, on dem candidates, I understand.
Why are you posing a false choice between Giuliani and Clinton/Obama? It’s the primaries — we have better options. If Giuliani gets the nomination, that will ensure that the donks win.
The Uniformed Firefighters Association (UFA) is the local for the NYFD. These are the guys that risked there lives on 9/11. More than 300 died trying to save others.
These are the same folks that endorsed George Bush over John Kerry, George Bush over Al Gore. These are the same folks who endorsed Rudy in 1993 and 1997. They worked the phone banks for Rudy, walked the precincts, etc.
You consider that scum?
Jim,
Giuliani’s chickens are coming home. Just in time, too.
THAT is a damn good question.
He did well with the on-camera stuff. But much like Nagin, he failed in every way to implement the most important parts of his own emergency management plan.
I’m just looking at our options, as my tagline suggests I back Fred, and I have heard that he is going to enter the race.
Or, if Rudy is the actual GOP nominee, which is highly unlikely, we will want to continue for a third party.
Read on, Petronski. What they say is true...
And these aren’t “Clinton goons.” They were Bush and Giuliani SUPPORTERS — at least they used to be.
If the GOP decides to sideline all union workers, and all christians, and all anti-amnesty republicans, (etc), what’s left?
Exactly! And as soon as we get rid of Rudy-the-Trojan-Horse the better. Then we can start getting to work on destroying the dems and supporting a viable NON-liberal candidate.
Scum only to those who consider Rudolph, the arrogant, ignorant liberal loving candidate as qualified to be President because he made a 9/11 speech. To the rest of us, they are 9/11 heros not speakers.
I just finished reading your excellent posts. Brava!
If you have a pinglist for this info, I’d love to be on it.
The radio thing irritates the hell out of me. That buck stops with Rootie.
Then it would be 16 or 17 month, and a pull the troops out now platform will simply be something you’ll have to support, or at least accept. There are no viable third parties, but it’s a part of the platforms of those that are around. Not that it will matter, at best they’ll help elect Hillary/Obama, and likely won’t have that much impact.
I tend to agree with do.
