McClatchy Washington Bureau ^ | May. 27, 2007 | Steven Thomma

Just a few weeks ago, advisers to Mitt Romney spoke about a steady, gradual climb from obscurity to the 2008 Republican presidential nomination.

Now, Romney has rocketed from behind and is leading the race or is neck and neck for the lead in the pivotal states of Iowa and New Hampshire.

“America’s political class is producing people of the lowest moral character and executive competence in history.”

Don’t take this the wrong way, but you may want to do some research on previous Presidents. Lyndon Johnson, John F. Kennedy, and Warren Harding, just for starters, were not known to have conducted themselves in a way befitting the dignity of the Presidency.

>>>Dueling articles won’t change that.

Found it. Your article on the DNC website. I can garuntee you mine is 100% DNC free. Dueling articles do matter. The DNC also invented the pergorative names for Mitt like "Smooth Talking Mitt" etc. FWIW, any time I find my self in agreement with the DNC it's time to do some soul searching and reexamine my beliefs.

He meant actually throwing stones, not condemning behaviors which ought to be condemned. People misuse that incident and quote constantly,

Those that came down on Mary were the same ones sleeping with her, or doing with someone else other than their spouce!

Jesus did not tolerate that kind of "ganging up on behavior" and called them on it!

Jesus also forgave Mary and said go and sin no more!

I am sure when one receives the power of the Lord love it is much easier to not violate that law!

Those who are not SOP, but are very much twisted in their process are suffering from lack of faith and agape love.

To say one has compassion and than in the same breath is showing contempt to them that are fallen is insincere!

Agape Love is build on patiences and prayer.

Some will over come, some won't, but they are God's children and we are to lift one another pray always that those who are struggling to find the Lord may find the way, and also to those striving to over come to find a firm foundation!

Ah, Big Guy! I was wondering if you could refer me to a candidate that doesn’t support tolerance for gays? Thanks!

In Romney’s case its MUCH more than tolerance. He has bought in to the gay agenda, supports it and furthers it.

Did I mention Romney? :) I take it that you can't refer me to any candidate that doesn't support tolerance for gays? Okay, thanks anyway.

I like Romney. I think he would make a fine GOP candidate. He’s goodlooking, energetic, experienced quick-witted and smart. I would prefer him over Fred. I hate to say it but Fred looks old and sickly. If we want to beat HillObama we need someone with lots of stamina. Mitt has 5 kids to prove he has lots of that-lol!

It does not look good for Fred. He looks old and tired. He maybe fine. But, he does look older than McCain.

Did not Jesus say he who is with out sin cast the first stone?

Boy, that line and others was used ad nauseum during the Clinton impeachment...It wasn't true then, and it's not true now. Although it does fool those ignorant of the Word.

BTW, I've been ignorant for years, on many issues.

Let me point out...IF this were the case, ..( The scripture you quoted..) we could never, ever, ever tell another that they were guilty of sin..because we all are.

Specifically, I believe Jesus was speaking to those Pharisee's and others there, that were condemning that woman. He was God in the flesh for crying out loud....He knew exactly whom was advocating the woman's stoning. And he was pointing out SIN is SIN...lying, stealing, adultery, murder, all just sin in HIS eyes.

FWIW-

I respect every living being - including those that have other than human physical bodies. I consider every living entity a child of God - an eternal spiritual spark - soul - encased in a temporary material body. So for that reason I respect each and every one.

Only humans have the free will to choose between good or evil, to choose to try to find God or to turn their backs on Him. Or to pretend to be pious and religious, and use that cloak to puff themselves up into a fake persona of self-righteousness and venom towards the “unanointed”.

I respect all, but I do NOT - repeat, I do NOT - respect everyone’s choices, behaviors, or mentalities. If someone’s actions and words show that he is proud of his vice, spreading it to others, and trying to ensnare and seduce others into it, then I respectfully consider his choices and words evil, disgusting, and hateful. And I hope with all my heart that he undergoes a change of life and heart and feels sincere, deep remorse.

I do not hate homosexuals. I hate their behavior and I hate their agenda. I do not hate them as individuals, and I hope that each and every one gives up their acts, gives up their agenda, and feels repentence and sorrow for what they’ve done and begs the forgiveness of God, just as each and every one of us needs to do, no matter who we are or what we’ve done.

But I will never give up my fight against the homosexual agenda, nor will I ever fake piety and smarmy so-called “love”. There is such a thing as “Tough Love” and this is what I will give, as much as my circumstances and heart allow. I grieve for people enmeshed in homsoexuality - you have no idea how much my heart grieves for them. I pray for them. And I wish them well, as I try to wish every suffering soul well.

But I know without an iota of doubt that unless and until they renounce the sin and shame of same sex acts, and renounce the evil of pushing this foul agenda on everyone else, they will be miserable now and especially miserable at the time of death, because after death they will have to experience the reactions to what they have done in their lives, as will we all.

And, btw, Jesus was telling them men not to stone her to death. He was not telling them that they should not condemn illicit sex. He shamed and chastised them by his words, so that their hearts could change, too. He loved them as much as he loved the woman. He told them to look inside for their own wrongs. Absolutely.

But this doesn’t mean that I or anyone else has no right to condemn, loudly and often, the evils that the homosexual agenda and indeed, the entire “sex positive” agenda is pushing - the viewpoint that you’re a slut, everyone’s a slut, and just rut like animals in the street, forget morality, forget God, forget truth, duty, loyalty, eternity - just go for instant gratification, and you can always have an abortion or take medicine for the STD.

This less-than-animal behavior (even animals don’t act againt mother nature, they’re not responsible for what they do generally speaking) is destroying human civilization. It is imperative that those who see this speak up and act in every way possible to put a screeching halt to the destruction of human civilization.

No. Mitt looks like he's acting. Like he acted like a liberal to get elected as governor. Now he is acting conservative to get elected as president. Mitt doesn't come across as real. Fred comes across as genuine. My take is Mitt probably is conservative, but who knows. He appears to be the type to say what he thinks will get him elected.

The only way this will be corrected is by the Lord!

All you stammering about this and that is just feel good hot air!

I repeat!

To say one has compassion and than in the same breath is showing contempt to them that are fallen is insincere!

BTW at no time did I ever suggest you should not fight against the Gay militant agenda!

Perhaps I’m just not understanding your message very well. I wasn’t trying to slam you in any way, just trying to express my position clearly.

Sometimes people need shunning and shaming to understand that their behavior and words are unacceptable in human society. Love doesn’t always mean hearts and flowers. Man, Jesus Christ himself used very harsh words and behavior at times when needed! He whipped the money changers and kicked over their tables! He called the Pharisees whited sepulchers and, IIRC, compared them to snakes.

Was he not loving in those instances? He did what needed to be done both to try to wake them up to their wrong doing and wrong mentality, and also as an example to everyone else to watch their step!

If I didn’t understand your comments, go ahead and try again.

Another point is that people do not change unless and until they realize that they are on the wrong path, that there is something wrong with THEM. As long as a person thinks that the reason he/she is unhappy or frustrated is OTHER people, or society, then he will never look into his own heart and his own life and see where HE went wrong. Always other peoples’ fault.

So tough love is helpful to get people, such as homosexuals and those who push that agenda, that the fault is within themselves. Currying favor with them, kowtowing to their demands, only increases the sickness, which is now spreading all over the world.

It’s cultural suicide and insanity to surrender to their demands.

(thanks for the kinds words, Pro! Every now and then I just have to let fly...)

Romney:
CEO, Olympic Games of Salt Lake City
4 years as Governor of Massachusetts

Thompson:
Chief minority legal counsel in the watergate hearings
Attorney General of Tennessee
8 years as Senator

I like both. I lean a little more towards Thompson, but I Gotta say Thompson clearly has more experience than Romney.

No. Mitt looks like he's acting. ... Fred comes across as genuine.

Now that's funny! You are dinging Romney for "looking like he's acting [presidential]", but admire Thompson for coming across as genuine, when he was actually being paid to act Presidential.

I think what Fred lacks in the "looks" department he more than makes up for by having the great voice.

No real preference personally at this point. I'm already ready to crawl the broken glass to vote for whoever is put up against Hillary.
