The saga is over.
Rosie O'Donnell will not be returning to "The View."
In a statement today, Brian Frons, the president of Disney-ABC's Daytime Television Group, said, "We had hoped that Rosie would be with us until the end of her contract three weeks from now, but Rosie has informed us that she would like an early leave. Therefore, we part ways, thank her for her tremendous contribution to 'The View' and wish her well."
Barbara Walters, the show's creator and co-executive producer, said, "I brought Rosie to the show. Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at 'The View.' I am most appreciative. Our close and affectionate relationship will not change."
In her statement, O'Donnell said, "I'm extremely grateful. It's been an amazing year and I love all three women."
And on her Web site Thursday, O'Donnell wrote: "When painting there is a point u must step away from the canvas as the work is done."
O'Donnell announced at the end of April she was leaving "The View," and her last day was supposed to be June 20.

I thought that Elizabeth's comeback was not too organized or powerful but what I think allowed her to win the day was that she got some support from the audience.
Historically every time Rosie would open her mouth, she would get the crowd support that she would then feed upon. This last time however, Elizabeth seemed to finally get the support and IMHO, that is what threw Rosie off her scripted diatribe and she had no idea how to deal with it...........
In all honesty, when it comes down to debating skills, Elizabeth is not in the same league as Rosie......
Elizabeth only started to gain ground when she stated that Rosie is an adult and responsible for her own words and views.

Rosie can’t debate. She’s just got a loud, obnoxious, Long Island honk of a voice that allows her to shout over everyone else. And I can say that because I’m from Long Island.
I had stated earlier that Elisabeth is an intellectual lightweight, but I think you're giving Rosie too much credit for her "debating skills". When someone has to resort to made-up "facts" and figures (such as 655,000 Iraqi civilians dead in Iraq), they clearly have no true debating skills.
Nancy Grace is all over this story.
She is showing the cat fight that happened on air between Rosie and the Liz.
Also Rosie’s freind was escorted from the building for writing mustaches on all of Liz’ pics on the walls.
Rosie made MSN a few weeks ago for saying it was because of “her being on the show” that the View one the daytime tv award.
Joy dropped her jaw and went off on a rant towards Rosie.
Trump is on now saying Rosie is mentally ill and she is self destructive.
Said she ate tons of wedding cake at his wedding which grossed him out.
I don’t watch the show but it is on the news as Rosie is an idiot story.
Nancy and Trump claiming the only reason Rosie got the huge ratings was because she was making an ass of herself fighting with Trump after that the ratings plummetted.
I have to agree with Trump that Rosie is self destructive and I will add that she is mean and hate filled.
Buh Bye Rosie.
LOL! She still hasn't explained to the people of Oakland, CA, how fire doesn't melt steel.
BTW, the freeway was totally repaired and opened for traffic this morning, weeks ahead of schedule.

Geez. Who watches this? ABC can have the millions of bottom feeders who have nothing better to do than watch television during the morning.
My 95 year old mother had an excuse. She was bedridden and loved screaming, “Morons!” at the tv, while she was on hold with her broker.
Too bad she died before Rosie entered the scene. It would have confirmed her opinion that tv was garbage.
Barbara Walters must be so demoralized to have descended in celebrity so far as to now host a cross between VH1 and the Best of Jerry Springer. Although to my knowledge there are no gap-toothed herion addicts showing their tushies on stage....yet.
Thank goodness we only had to hear about O’Donnell’s wide rectum and need for half a roll of tissue rather than actually see it.
But, I suppose her comment passes for “polite” conversation in The Viewdom.
She can sit-in for Bill Maher now. I’m awfully sure that his head is actually his rectum.

If anything, the complaints logged at ABC/Disney may have ended Rosie’s gig early. If you watch the tape, she is playing EH for a dupe. She was most likely canned before they went out there and she was just laying for “Christian” Elizabeth. EH is a lovely, lovely girl. She certainly doesn’t belong in that cesspit. That’s all the View has become, and Barbra Walters is responsible. She’s a senile, money grubbing old hag, but still responsible.:))
Yes, it would be nice to see Baba Wawa go, but Joy Behar really should be next.
On second thought, I know of no redeeming value for the show at all. Axe the whole thing.

That is true. What I tried to convey was the fact that when it comes down to using words to convey her point, Elizabeth can't compete.
FWIW, I saw Rosie against O'Reilly and although she was coming from left field, she did a very good job in holding her own........for that I have to commend her.
If you have to work weekends (retail, hotels, nursing, etc.) your days off are likely to be in the middle of the week.
Our 100 pound weakling finally stood up to Rosie the schoolyard bully and so the bully quits 3 weeks early.
Elisabeth, I salute you.

Good...now they can dump those pigs, Behar and Walters and give lovely Elizabeth her own show.
