WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney believes the US should not be pursuing a diplomatic path with Iran, and a senior aide to the vice president has been meeting with national security think tanks and consultants in Washington to "help establish the policy and political pathway to bombing Iran," Steve Clemons reported Thursday. Cheney is the person in the Bush administration who most desires a "hot conflict" with Iran and believes the administrations pursuit of diplomacy, led by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, is a mistake, Clemons reports. The Cheney aide, who has met with policy hands of the American Enterprise Institute along with other groups, "has stated to several Washington insiders that Cheney is planning to deploy an "end run strategy around the President if he and his team lose the policy argument...
This sounds like an episode of 24.
Yeah. Because we shouldn’t be prepared for any eventuality.
Blah.
“bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran” - McCain.
Who is Steve Clemons?
How reliable is this info? Is this a credible site or just another rumour mongering blog?.........
I’ve long since stop paying attention to stories that rely completely on ‘anonimous’ quotes.
Rathergate, Jayson Blair, et al cured me.

No aid should be saying things like that. If some future Vice President were to be working to subvert the President’s control of foreign policy and a government employee were to find out about this, that employee should be going to the authorities, not some think tank.
I do not believe this story.
If we told you - Dick Cheney would have to have you killed.
WHo is John Galt?........

They've been threatening for years. Same with North Korea.
Bomb them, or don't bomb them... just stop talking about it!
LOL. Yeah, that's a likely scenario.
Either this is all made-up or, just perhaps, Cheney's office is trying to put on his black hat and have him play "bad cop" to help scare Iran a little. Because heck, Iran's rulers might actually believe this nonsense that Cheney could somehow do an "end-run" around the President that ends up with bombs falling on Iran.
I'd love it if Iran believed that! I want Iran believing our leaders are crazy, scheming, and volatile. So much the better. If putting forth this image is an intentional strategy on Cheney's part, then bravo to him :)
Nor, do I.....Until Katie Couric says it's so..........or Gunga Dan............or Rosie O'Dumbass........

Now that does sound like a possibility. It’s not normal for a 2nd term President to have a VP on his side and willing to do whatever it takes to support the administration instead of posturing for his own White House run.
John Galt? He is a man who will become very popular and well known if Hitlery gets in the White House.
not sure who that john galt guy is but i all of a sudden feel like moving to colorado and using barter instead of cash.
Wishful thinking. We should take out the Iranian regime while it is easier, but we won’t until they can retaliate with nukes, or perhaps after their first strike.
