Gee, by August not ONE PERSON in America will think the war is going well.
“The results of a recent CBS News Poll indicate that NO Americans think the war in Iraq is going well.
“Meanwhile, 100% of Americans think going to war was a mistake.”
That’s the lead I’m waiting for.
Oh brother.

It is probably about 76% that think Baghdad encompasses the whole of Iraq.

CBS? Weren’t they a big station once, until their chief correspondent was found to be lying about documents?

So I guess they had to oversample the rats pretty good to get this result.

76% Say War's Going Badly
Put another way, only 24% of the people are informed enough and intelligent enough to know what's really going on and how we're really doing in Iraq,..

If it were going well, we wouldn’t have to call it “WAR”.

I never trust such polls. After telling people for months on end how badly the war is doing the news then decides to ask them how they think the war is doing. Surprise those polled declare the war is doing badly. Hear a lie often enough if takes on the aura of truth.

If I was to base my answer to this poll solely on what CBSNBCABCCNNMSNBC had to report; I too would think the war was going badly. However, I have a son in Iraq and a husband who has been to Iraq and Afghanistan, and I’m surrounded by active duty soldiers who tell me othewise on a daily basis. So, they can take their poll and shove it up thier...oh, never mind.

The poll was a sample of the CBS newsroom, apparently.

No matter how much everyone says they hate Polls, don’t trust ‘em, they don’t mean a thing, they lie, they’re fixed...
If you put the word “Poll” in the title of a thread here at FR, you’ll have nearly twice as many views as any other thread on the page.
I think we love to hate polls — actively. (Unless they support our position, of course.)
I certainly don’t trust Internet polls. We all know how easy they are to Freep. Written polls are better. Phone polls are good. Phone-in polls I'm not so sure of. Live polls are geography-bound.
To: Sub-Driver
100% of Freepers would never speak to CBS except to spit on them.

Very interesting (see bottom of
Page 3).....
An oversample of African Americans was also conducted for this poll, for a total of 192 interviews among this group. The results were then weighted in proportion to the racial composition of the adult population in the U.S. Census. The margin of error for African Americans is plus or minus 7 percentage points.

‘CBS Poll: 76% Say War’s Going Badly’
Unfortunately for CBS, nobody watches their news broadcast, and so this is meaningless.

Well, if it’s CBS (the home of the ever-popular Mrs. Couric) running the poll, I am shocked that they cannot get a higher percentage of people on their side. They ain’t trying!
