Over the weekend, I attended a surprise birthday party for a fraternity brother. He told a great Chappaquiddick story. Ted had just killed Mary Jo. Another fraternity brother managed to get a letter to the editor in a Boston newspaper. He eviscerated Ted. Ted actually tracked him down and called him at the fraternity house. The Pi Sigma Chi brother refused to take the call. Kennedy was steaming. I suspect they were both probably drunk at the time.

ted kennedy's remarks concerning the 1965 immigration bill.
source: http://www.cis.org/articles/1995/back395.html
Senate immigration subcommittee chairman Edward Kennedy (D-MA.) reassured his colleagues and the nation with the following:
"First, our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually. Under the proposed bill, the present level of immigration remains substantially the same ... Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset ... Contrary to the charges in some quarters, [the bill] will not inundate America with immigrants from any one country or area, or the most populated and deprived nations of Africa and Asia ... In the final analysis, the ethnic pattern of immigration under the proposed measure is not expected to change as sharply as the critics seem to think."
Sen. Kennedy concluded by saying,
"The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission. It will not cause American workers to lose their jobs." (U.S. Senate, Subcommittee on Immigration and Naturalization of the Committee on the Judiciary, Washington, D.C., Feb. 10, 1965. pp. 1-3.)

What good, really, would this do?
It’s not as if many of these legislators are going to start taking an interest in how their constituents view these issues, and certainly not Sen. Kennedy.

Ted Kennedy's Immigration Reform Act of 1965 has created a situation in which 85 percent of our immigrants hail from the Third World and Asia.

Sorry, Doug, I have to abstain. What I'd say to that fat, drunken POS would serve no purpose other than to get me a visit from the Secret Service. Now, if The Snorkel
himself wanted to show up, mano y mano, I'd compose a friggin' novella to him and tape my knuckles nice and tight. >;-)

By the way, Bush is much more extreme in his support of illegals than Ted Kennedy, so I don’t know why your focus is on Sir Drinks-A-Lot. Bush asked the Senate to remove a provision regarding the illegals to pay back taxes, even though Kennedy had put in the provision! Bush is a traitor - Kennedy is just going along for the ride.

Can’t do it Doug. Living in NH, I’m afraid he’d let loose some flying monkey liberals from Cambridge or Brookline to screw things up here worse than they already are.
