No Calderon is attempting to change the Gov.
and that is what is needed.
If these people have hope at home they wont come here
I agree with you. Ive paid in the Maxim to SS for 37 years. The fact that the Democrats and Republicans pi$$ed it away is not my concern. Let the federal government sell assets to cover the debt. They own enough land in the western states...
I would guess that I’m better off than most, but my kids should get my estate.
Our children deserve all that we have accrued it is OURS
I’m a boomer too. Been paying in since I was 13. Remember when our payroll tax was raised to provide for our retirement? I am mad as @$** that the money was taken and spent leaving an IOU in the Social Security Trust Fund.
If the money could have been invested like the State Teacher’s Retirement was even just during the 80’s and 90’s there would probably be enough that the boomer’s could retire early, and plenty left over for our children’s retirement and medicare/medicaid.
And these Aholes that missmaneged it want to toss the burdon back on me at the 11th hour. Hell, they just want to wave a wand and take it away
I does anger me as well. I spent a lifetime upholding the ideals and now you want to change the rules?
Fred needs to get clear on this one

Don’t tell but a lot of Joe everydays CAN do a better job of it than the professional money managers. There are Jr. High students doing it all the time, and many other everyday Joes.
Have you ever read any of Peter Lynch’s Books? Check it out you can start out small, until you get more experience.
I will look at it.
I can always use more options.
They all want what isnt thiers dont they?
Its a daily battle. My retirement plan is to be dead at 85
I think I may extend that by doing something I like for supplemental income
Yes, I want to know specifics on this question. I have been saving and investing since the 80’s so that I would have a secure retirement even if there was zero social security, but I have had quit work and withdraw a lot of $$ to help my sick mother, invalid father, and one of my children ever since 2000, so I will be needing social security now too.
Yep and people get hosed on other aspects.
A divorce that makes you break up the 401K to split 50/50.
There iss the 10% early withdrawal penalty and the lawyers... you 500K becomes 200K pronto
Yeh I plan to do some supplemental income, but right now I have 24/7 taking care of my homebound dad, grandchildren, and then of course me and my husband, so I won’t be able to go back to work for a while.
Those are all burdons that we dont tend to think of. I always laff at the “fidelity” commecials were they are playing rock music and every one is skydiving and partying and “blowin money”
L0L Id wipe out my acount in 5 years at that rate
Yep, I've bugged Jim about that for years- it really made a difference at Free Dominion, when they added it, for contributing members only.
