Hope this opens the eyes of some of the cop-groupies here.
Did everybody notice how fat all the cops were? I suppose the most incompetent and worthless cops get airport duty.

I know some of you think I got what I deserved, but I’m here to tell you, I did absolutely nothing wrong! I admit I was mistaken about the TSA drink policy, but when you fly as much as I do and every checkpoint I’ve been through in the last 6 months (minus the Vegas one) have let me carry a drink through that I purchased in the airport. How am I supposed to know the rule when the TSA doesn’t know it themselves.
Some people say I came back after missing my flight to complain about my drink some more, this is the furthest from the truth! I came back, because after I Id’d myself as SGT Mark England and produced my id when asked for it, the TSA supervisor told me he “is” a Lieutenant in the Army. Since Army regulations states that if you’re out of uniform and introduce yourself as a member of the Armed Forces, you a required to produce proper military ID. I asked the TSA supervisor 4 times to see his ID and he refused all 4 times. Why is this such a big deal? Cause we’re at war and it is a federal crime (especially in war time) to pose as a member of the Armed Forces.
As for me getting beaten... they and some of you say I resisted arrest. Well, I know that I followed every single command that the officer gave me and did so quietly and politely. What set him off was me politely asking him if he could pick up the dollar he just threw on the floor. He then produced his cuffs, told me to turn around and grabbed my shoulder to spin me around. What happened next is a result of 14 years in the Army, hand to hand and combatives training, being in 3 seperate combat zones and engaged in hand to hand in Iraq. I shrugged his hand off, backed away and put my hands out to the side in a passive stance. He then 2 handed shoved me twice, pulled out his baton, yelled at me to get on the ground and before I could comply, he started swinging. Now I ask all of you this question. If you see an enraged person swinging a baton at you (whether he’s a policeman or not) would you not try to block the swings? Well, that’s what I did. I tried to block his swings and he still broke 3 ribs, gave me a concussion as well as numerous cuts. His partner than runs up and without any warning what-so-ever, fired his taser at me. This had the effect of shutting down my CNS and causing me to fall head 1st into a metal door frame. While I lay there, they yelled at me to roll over onto my stomach, but I couldn’t due to my CNS still being jacked up. They then tased me again to get me to comply to their commands. When they told me to roll over again and I couldn’t and begged them to stop, they tased me a 3rd time to get me to comply. All of this was done disregarding LVMPD tasering policy.
Did things get out of hand? Yes they did. Do I accept some of the blame? Yes I do. I should’ve know the drink rule better and should’ve waited til I got home to file a complaint. But if wishes were fishes...
Did I deserve everything that I got from the LVMPD? No Way!
Is there any crime I committed? Not in the least. Could things have gone better? Sure they could and the officer could be doing this to someone who doesn’t have the training to block his blows. Maybe next time this happens, the victim won’t be so lucky. Or maybe we can help fix something that is broken.
BTW... last year there were 17 deaths due to multiple taserings. 6 of those 17 were in Clark County, NV... Just something I thought I’d point out.

Ladies and Gentlemen, if this is true as reported , history is being made here: the ACLU is actually on the right side of an issue!

First of all, thank-you for your service to the country.
I think what happened to you is absolutely outrageous.....
I hope you sue the pants off the jack-booted thugs who mistreated you....they sound like criminals with a badge.

There is a Frequent Flyer website.... www.flyertalk.com
that has a Travel/Security section where Frequent Flyers
post about their hassles and run ins with Airport “security.” You’re not the only person who has had problems at McCarran International, but your situation sounds like the worse one I’ve heard of by far. I’m 100% certain the other members would be very interested to learn what happened to you. Just log on to www.flyertalk.com .
Once there, click on the top of the screen where it says “Travel/Dining,” then when the next window appears,
scroll down about half way and click where it says,
“Travel/Security.” Take care. Greg

Good luck in your quest for justice. My guess is that when this all gets sorted out, you’re going to be one wealthy soldier.

Funny how the situation is turned when its a US soldier and not an illegal marching for rights he shouldnt have!!Too many cops are on a self righteous power trip and to many conservatives feel they are blameless-when in all reality these punks with badges are nothing but the kids that got picked on finally feeling they have the power to do something about it.I really believe the minority of cops are out to help society -but the majority are on a sick ,sadistic trip were they have a no telling on other officers rule that lets them -shoot-rape-rob people like the cops from rampart in Los Angeles.Any one from FR that backs their play and comes out with the “they are doing a their jobs and the media attacks them for no reason nonsense” is just refusing to see who these HEROES in blue really are!

Why is this news? The Democrat party does this every day along with their pals in the LameStream Press.

This is hard to post because I really want to see it more sympathetically, similar experience back in late sixties:

"..I shrugged his hand off, backed away and put my hands out to the side in a passive stance."

Caught that. The taser and baton were apparently totally out of line..

But your comment about waiting to file a complaint until after you got away from the incident was absolutely correct.

(PS: Bosnia/FRY I will leave out of this discussion)

I'll wager that they aren't. If it isn't responded to then it isn't recognized to have happened.
One or two may show up, but the majority will treat the thread with the denial of recognition.

After seeing this I would call OBL, tell him and AQ this is your next target for a nuke attack, of course any FReepers in LV should vacate. I used to live in LV, nothing but hookers, hustlers and alcaholics.

BTW, I bet some research into these idiots would reveal some screwy hostility and values generally.

I consider them more than likely to have more than a few screws loose. They sound like accdents waiting to happen from way back. might be worth checking out on the way to court.

I can see the future....

AQ nukes cities in US.

US rounds up all Muslims in America, evacuates Las Vegas and puts up prison fence around city, becomes internment camp.

It is always difficult to form an opinion without being able to read the reports and talk or listen to interviews with witnesses. On balance, your story is credible and the FBI needs to look at this for civil rights violations, and the ACLU (barf - ok I'm better) is right to get involved. Their motive is not so much to defend you it seems, rather it is a means to attack the taser policy of the LVPD.

I have read of other incidents in which the TSA has abused or intimidated service personnel.

If someone identifies himself as a military officer, he should back it up with an ID. You might consider filing a complaint with the I.G. That has risk of course, because the military might retaliate against you. On the other hand he might not be an officer, and he could face criminal charges himself.

Good luck, and I hope you recover soon. If you do get deployed, let patriciaruth know so we can add you to our package list. God bless you, and thank you for your service.
