It’s not likely soldier, that any member here in good standing believes you got what you deserved!

These bums are nothing but serial bully’s with badges...

Thank you for your service soldier

Hope this helps; I sent it to the IA guys:

Seldom do I see something which enrages me enough to respond, but the LVMPD treatment of SGT England is one of them. IA doesn’t have the nicest job in the world, but you guys are the line between public trust and open hatred of your officers. Please do right by SGT England and speak out loud and clear. Four sociopaths dealt with appropriately don’t define a department, but unaddressed they do.

Thank you for your service.

"I shrugged his hand off, backed away and put my hands out to the side in a passive stance"

At that point a lot of cops would have assumed you were actively resisting arrest and escalated up the use of force policy. It is screwed up, but that is the way it works, especially among the police who deal with the harder class of criminal. Unfortunately, your trained reflexes probably overrode your good judgment about the best course of action. Totally understandable, and not your fault. I don't think these guys are outside of the norm for police work though, and you are probably not getting anywhere with a lawsuit, since your answers on this forum probably screw your chances. If you want to get them fired, continue the PR campaign, it will probably have a good effect. Also, if you haven't already, file a complaint about the "Lieutenant".

The two areas I see where they might be liable are your black eye (they aren't supposed to baton your head), and what looked like the guy hitting you with the baton immediately after they tasered you. Good luck.

You might want to see this post about an officer beating a Sikh veteran of the first Gulf war.

Why the media campaign? Why not just sue?

What exactly does all of this get you?

Cops are pricks - nothing new here.

They do the enforcing for the Leftist state...coddle their base and bareknuckle true Americans. This is the future my fellow rightwingers.

People who have not yet had "contact" with the current crop of "law enforcement" will refuse to believe this fact....until they are "contacted"

By the time sufficient numbers of us are "contacted", it will be too late.

I wonder how long it will be before the “cops are always right” crowd enters the thread. These cops let their badge get to their head. Some pigs are more equal than others, I guess.

We’ve pretty much decided too that Las Vegas is no longer a spot we want to visit. Basically, it sucks.

Vegas lost a lot of it's lustre when it decided to become "family freindly". It was a great adult playground, but it's now a tourist trap.

Which is why the cops are basically locked out of a lot of Black communities now. I spent a year hanging out in our ghetto working on a book. It's interesting to see the interactions. The basic response of about 50% of Blacks under age 30 to a police request is somewhere between f* you, to backtalk to simple non-compliance. Mostly the cops don't go in except in groups to a lot of areas. They have zero abilty to clear crimes because no one will talk to them. The "no snich" prison rule now being extended to the streets, and all contact with the man. It's basically "name, rank and serial number" if they are lucky.

There have been three or four high profile police shootings, all ruled justified, when this two way lack of respect and courtesy escalates. Most of the lawsuits haven't played out yet. Often the survivors are not savvy enough to tough it out for the big payday and are bought off fairly cheaply. (Under $1M)

The soldier WAS trained to obey authority, which is why, except for a few defensive moves, he took it. There are plenty of very large, angry, athletic Black guys out there whose first reflex will be to beat the crap out of officer donut. They, too might get tasared down eventually, but not until officer donut is a lot worse for wear.

With his attitude it's only a matter of time until he meets up with one, I suspect.

Yeah, the ASP is only supposed to be used on pressure and nerve points on the body. Back of the knee, legs get the guy on the ground to control.

I'm a 55-year-old whitebread grandfather and I have the same attitude.

No matter how bad the situation these days, it can always be made worse by the addition of a "Law Enforcement Officer".

The thing that got my attention on the video was when the cop did his little showoff baton-spin before he let loose on the soldier. Looks like the cop was itchin' to beat the crap out of somebody that day.

Good luck to Sgt. England.

Las Vegas won't be getting any of my tourist dollars anytime soon.
