GOP Sellout- A senseless giveaway on immigration.
National Review Online ^ | 05/17/07 | Brian Darling

“Sellout.” It may be harsh, but it’s the most accurate and succinct way to sum up how conservatives feel right now about President Bush and Senate Republicans, who have cut a deal that would grant amnesty to the estimated 12 million illegal aliens living in the U.S. — not to mention the parents, spouses, and children of these illegals.

Title VI of a draft copy of the bill breaks down amnesty visas into three categories:

Z-1 — Illegal aliens present and working in the United States up to Jan. 1, 2007. Z-2 — Parents and spouses of illegal aliens qualifying under the Z-1 category. Z-3 — Children of illegal aliens qualifying under the Z-1 category.

These “Z Visa” holders can stay in the “Z” status indefinitely, which means they never have to pursue “a pathway to citizenship.” They also would be able to get Social Security numbers and benefit from some welfare programs. Shockingly, there is no cap on the numbers of amnesty recipients in the draft language. The only thing the Z Visa holder can’t do is vote — until, that is, a liberal judge declares this limitation unconstitutional or until a liberal president can railroad through a “technical corrections” bill.

It wouldn’t see the light of day under Duncan Hunter. Or if by some strange chance it did, it would be a joy to watch him tear it up.

I'm Glad you see the insane things we are asked to swallow together, like 90% nitric + 10% sulfuric acid & slow glycerine drops. The acid must be poured off and the result gently poured into a cold Sodium bicarb solution. Keep the result right there forever for stabilization.

This is how explosive amnesty is for us. Idiots will ignite this and blow up a lot of things. My dad whipped my ass 35 years ago for making it and he told me where to go with that crap. He was very mad at me for putting a hole in the backyard. That stopped right there and then.

We will blow a hole in the ground and lie down in it underneath dirt if this bill isn't frozen right now.

We could use more of the highly skilled and educated immigrants, the ones we make spend a long and time and a lot of money to be allowed in. But we need more low-skilled ‘laborers’ like we need a hole in the head. We had too many of them a long time ago, and that needs to be capped both legal and illegal.

Personally, I voted for and SUPPORTED Bush both elections, but now I put him on about the same level as Clinton. Neither respected the rule of law.

You and me both. GWB just gave you and me the middle finger. I seem to remember him specifically affirming, not too long ago, that enforcement must come before anything else. He pretended to understand us and be on our side. Oops, that was then, this is now! Do I sound bitter?

How about that college educated (in the U.S.) Honduran, well qualified who CAN’T get a visa, reason he is “over qualified.”

If “we need more of the highly skilled” means increasing the legal limits, I’m not so sure that’s true. In some cases, employers want H-1B “slaves” that get no benefits, and they really don’t want to hire US citizens, especially older ones.

We've been sold out!

You just got the memo? Bush has been pushing for amnesty for years. George Bush sold you out years ago. You're just realizing that now?

the Republican party has abandoned its core Conservative principles in favor of socialism?

Not socialism. Neoconservatism. Well, same difference.

I have the same (California) dillema. And I think — this is the state whose voters passed Prop 187 by more than two to one? Where’s the democracy? I’m not seeing it.

Medved is irrational on the issue. I can’t even listen to his platitudes; he makes my skin crawl.

Michael Medved's brother and dad live in Israel, if I'm not mistaken. Does Michael favor an open-borders policy for Israel? If not, why only for the US?

Believe me, if they anounced a zero immigration policy starting tomorrow, it wouldn’t bother me one bit. I just don’t see a flood of legally-immigrated doctors and engineers as being the problem. My point is just that we DO NOT need more cheap labor, legal or illegal, to do “jobs Americans won’t do.”

I urge everyone that is as pissed as I am to call your elected moron
Sure! I have Linda Sanchez, Barb Boxer and Diane Feinstein.

Do you have a plan B for this?

My condolences...and good luck.
You’re welcome in Texas any time, although, I’m not sure we’re going to be much better off should this thing pass.

I still think we can stop this Harriet Miers style. We need to make sure that any Republican who supports this knows that he'll be looking for work after the next election cycle.

Right now I'm so mad I could spit.........spit right in the eye of that idiot McQueeg, my senator(The smiling moron Gordon Smith)and every other RINO that went along with it.

I heard there was even some kind of forgiveness regarding taxes or some such. Even without that, this STINKS!

My family, both sides, come to America legally, serve their new country by fighting for it in WWII, pay all their taxes and obey the laws.

How are they rewarded? They get to educate, pay for incarceration (for a relatively high percentage), pay for medical care and put up with 99 foreign languages in our own neighborhoods and on our ballots for millions of lawbreakers who owe their allegiance to another nation.

As second generation, I went to war for my country, paid my taxes and did all that is asked of a loyal citizen. In addition to all of the above crap, I got to watch that imbecile Carter pardons all the chicken shits who ran to Canada.

My question to all the RINOs in congress is..........What the hell am I obeying all the laws for? I'm just being played for a sap by my own 'representatives!

My next question is.... Just who the hell represents ME?

"Since the Democrats got what they wanted they will never lead the impeachment process."

Who says it has to be a Democrat to initiate impeachment proceedings. If I had the power, I would do it myself. Bush has betrayed conservatism.

TIME FOR A THIRD PARTY!

One of my profs said going third party is a waste of your vote. You can't win with a third party.

So what's the difference? I'm a lifelong Republican, I can't wind with the dems and I can't win with my own party. So what do I have to lose now?
