A Kenosha County Sheriff's deputy died after being shot while conducting a traffic stop in the Town of Somers overnight.

A suspect was captured about three hours after last night's shooting and remains in custody today.

According to the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department:

The deputy, whose identity has not yet been released, stopped a red 1995 Chevy Astro van for a traffic violation in a subdivision just south of Highway E and east of Highway 31 when he was shot about 11:37 p.m.

A backup officer arrived and called in that the deputy was down.

The deputy was rushed to an area hospital, where he died.

After the shooting, the suspect's vehicle remained at the scene and he was believed to have fled on foot.

I live within a mile of the shooting. It was a little chilly here in Kenosha, so windows were closed and I didn’t hear much commotion. The suspect was captured in an apartment complex(Woodcreek) across the street from my house. The neighborhood in which this individual was first pulled over is very ritzy, there were rumors many years ago that former Packer Reggie White was going to buy property in that area

Local radio station WLIP-AM reports the slain officer is Deputy Frank Fabiano Jr. I believe he served in the military, was given a police purple heart several years ago for receiving shrapnel wounds from a seperate incident, and leaves behind his wife of 15 years and an 8 year old daughter.

I believe the Feds wouldn’t be at fault in a wrongful death case because it is up to local police to deal with these criminals. Unfortunately, KPD and KSD has probably dealt with the suspect at some point in the past and decided to let him go, just like many other jurisdictions.

As a side note the deputy’s death came less than a day after the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, Kenosha police and Pleasant Prairie police held their annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony to honor those law enforcement personnel who have given their lives in the line of duty. In the furor over all of this, let us not forget the memory of Frank Fabiano.

I just watched channel 4s news conference and it is a down right shame. The officers was an 18 year veteran who had been shot back in 91 rescued a lady one time and had received the departments highest award.

The shooter on the other hand was a low down illegal immigrant who had not one, not two not even three, but several social security cards and alias. The you have Aldo whats he face claiming illegals are good people. Give me a brake....

I’m sure the nice Hispanic feller just needed directions to his job, and somehow accidentally discharged his son’s toy gun into the officer.

I live in the area also and didn’t hear a thing. Do we have a large number of illegals in this area?

This is 6 or 7 law officers killed since December by illegal aliens. Google it, it’s astonishing.

In Kenosha County, we do have a large number, but it is relative. I believe Racine has a higher percentage, with Burlington having a HUGE illegal population. In my 30 years I have never heard the issue debated in a local election.

I wonder if there is a grounds for a wrongful death action against the federal government.

There are two suits going now by parents of children murdered by aliens. Haven't heard the status lately. Of course the perps will have LaRaza, etc defending them with OUR tax dollars. The feds give LaRaza alone 5 to 10 MILLION dollars a year.

And he’s more than likely voting under each of those identities.

What a mess!

I assume they arrive in Chicago, realize it’s too expensive, then migrate to where its cheaper to live. They stay because an employer is willing to break the law and give a job to a criminal. They also stay because the police don’t hassle them and send them back to their country of origin.

I’m wondering if this alleged shooter had a job, and if the person employing him is felling a little guilty right about now.

You are right two very large nurseries in the area non union and as for construction most if not all are now non union thanks to those loser's. Also as I recall they have a high Ag area around Burlington, Union Grove, Franksville where they grow pickles, cabbage and other veggies which have a high demand for cheap labor.

Check that Franksville that should be Kansasville which is just south of Frankskville but I do think both towns play a big part in their being there you can drive to any of them within minutes from Racine or Kansasville
