How much is your life worth to you? How much is my life worth because a person’s need for speed ended my life?
Well consider me a counterexample.

The ticketing sounds realistic. After all, a driver in the far right lane who drives too slow is ticketed for causing a traffic hazard.

Perhaps you need to enlighten yourself with how Bosch L-Jet fuel injection works.
If the car’s fuelling is rich below a certain RPM point, it can very well do what I describe.

You're correct. It is the lane used by people smart enough to know how to drive past dorks too stupid to figure out how to drive a car.
I do the same. My F-150 only gets up to about 75-80 MPH anyways.

Stock-car racing legend Richard Petty, running for North Carolina secretary of state, paid a $65 fine in September of 1996 for improperly bumping a car that wouldn’t let him pass in the left lane on Interstate 85. According to a state trooper, Petty said if the driver got in front of him again, he was going to “knock his ass off the road.” Petty told a reporter, “Now if it had been a NASCAR showdown, [the driver] would have been over in the ditch somewhere.”
I’ve had similar experiences with cell phone users. Beyond the belief that that one should not carry on extended conversations while driving with one hand occupied (stop it now), what I don’t understand is that some people find it difficult to simply drive and talk at the same time. In the Multitasking Department, It’s not exactly juggling while riding a unicycle and drinking a glass of water. It makes me wonder what other thought processes they can’t execute cleanly while doing something else.

California - posted limit for trucks and vehicles towing trailers is 55. Can’t speak to the rest of the country, but given the distance from the Oregon border to the Mexico Border, that means many hours in the seat north to south. We also have some of the highest prices for fuel in the country (of course, there are very few people driving the posted speed limit anywhere in California anymore - most are exceeding it by at least 10 to 15 miles per hour if not more). Those who feel they are so important that the posted speed limit does not apply to them are placing the rest of us at great risk in their zeal to get somewhere that’s usually not all that important in the greater scheme of life (for most I believe it’s the thrill of driving at such a high rate of speed rather than the need to get somewhere). We’ll pay for the burning of fossil fuels at the rate we are driving at some point. This is not a renewable source of energy, and using it up faster than new sources can be brought online doesn’t help anyone. So, enjoy your ride as you bring us closer and closer to the end of this energy source (you and all the others who want to drive at such high rates of speed - I hope you don’t get into an accident at that speed-survival rates are not good)
Us and some friends were traveling together a couple weeks ago. They had never seen HOV lanes before and were impressed witht he extra speed we got until I explained that if those lanes were opened to all, everyone would go at a better speed. This was south of Washington DC, early rush hour with two express HOV lanes. With those lanes fully open, I submit that everyone would get home much quicker.
Psst - 85mph is the new Texas upper limit.
*MANY* international studies show that going faster does NOT increase your chances of dying in an auto accident. If anything, the Germans have proven that by introducing speed limits on their autobahns, the introduction of such limits will cause an *increase* in automobile fatalities by increasing the speed *differential* between different cars on the highway.

If you are a REAL left lane driver there is no difference. You are ALWAYS passing the slow-pokes ;^)
We have a few of those here on FR.
I have imagined twin .50’s with an HUD reticle and a fire button on the shifter. But a Warthog-style Gatling gun would be nice, too.
On you it would look good, though it would be quite a departure from your normal costume!
What I do know is that my 5.9 litre engine obtains a fuel economy of approximately 21 miles per gallon at 55 miles per hour and less than 15 miles per gallon at 70 miles per hour. Since this is what I drive, I drive accordingly. When I am in a posted 55 I drive 55. When I’m in a posted 65 I drive 60. When in a posted 70 I drive around 60. I’m not in such a hurry as everyone else is I guess.
By the way, my vehicle does not drive at 2200 rpms at 65mph. It’s more like 1800. Maybe you need to recalibrate your gearing or something.
