The reason there is no outcry is because they know there is statistically no chance that Condoleeza Rice would actually be raped by white men.*

*Source: 2005 DOJ report on Criminal Victimization that indicates over 30,000 white women raped/sexually assaulted by black men and “between 0 and 10” black women raped/sexually assaulted by white men.

See? It *must* have been a joke. That’s why the “Revs” Sharpton and Jackson aren’t speaking up!

/sarcasm

"Where does this silliness of suspensions and terminations end?"

When they succeed in taking Rush Limbaugh off the air.

“We are suspending them over a controversy that nobody had ever heard of. But listen to what they said!”

And what is it with radio and “suspending”?

It’s a start, but I hope they get the ax for good one day. Freedom of speech doesn’t give one the “right” to be rude, coarse and vulgar — even if they’re paid for it, and even if people pay to hear it.

These guys are compensated to be outrageous and line crossers.

Exactly. And the company that compensates them decided their actions were detrimental to the company's continuing to have money to compensate its employees.

So the company made a business decision.

XM aren't "thought police." They're Opie & Anthony's employers. Opie and Anthony have a perfect right, if they so choose, to find another outlet for them to make rape jokes.

I am suspending my XM account for 30 days. I am thoroughly disgusted by the thought police. O&A are being suspended because of the lunatic rantings of a homless man on a paid service. Insane.

It’s a paid subscription!!!

They are not on free radio or free TV.. They are not governed (yet) by the FCC..
They’ve done that and been kicked off of that... Just like Stern was pushed to Sirius..
Because the thought police are coming to get ya...

People pay for the pleasure of listening to their program..
Part of my subscription fee goes to pay those two knuckleheads but my taxes paid to the government go to knuckleheads, too.

I am not one who would cancel my subscription because of what these two said or didn’t say.

But do I think that they should be shut up? NO!!!
Let them talk!!

We’re still kind of free in this country, and you can’t turn your radio in your car to their XM channel.

And that’s the aim of certain groups out there. When everyone on the radio who offends someone gets suspended or fired it’s sure gonna get mighty quiet out there.

I’m with you 100%; I’m cool with very edgy comedy, and people who are not should find something else to listen to. XM is not regular radio; XM are corporate cowards for suspending them. I hope Opie and Anthony pull more listeners in the end. They were hired to do very controversial comedy, and are pretty good at it. I expect the self-righteousness from the left, not the right.

That’s my point.

XM was silly and childish... Are they worried Jessie and Al are going to be knocking on their door?

Don’t worry. Condi isn’t the right type of black for them to protest.

And we know they both hate rich, white Republican women anyways.

Wait, Will the FR thought police suspend me for my comments?

Actually it does. Especially when you’re speaking in exclusivity.

No, actually, freedom of speech does include rude, coarse and vulgar. If you took away those three, a good part of the Western Canon would go with it. I wonder if some misguided conservatives would try and ban Aristophanes or Rabelais if they got their XM channel.

I’m thinking about satellite radio. I figure I’ll listen to what I like & not tune in to what I don’t. That’s what I do with “free” radio too. I always thought that’s the way it worked.

It could be both XM and Sirius are losing money, or not making the money they should be. They’re trying to merge and this latest controversy may not be good news for approval of
the merger (bad PR). Their action was for a reason. Instead of firing them, they cover their butt by giving them a month
suspension.
Gets them in the news, again, too.

Overreaction. Punishing someone’s livelihood because some people got their widdle feelings hurt.

Of course it does.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

I see nothing in there about speech having to meet some sort of arbitrary taste guidelines in order to be protected.

It’s a paid subscription!!!

So? The people that cash those checks have every reason to want to keep cashing them. When someone they employ threatens that incoming cash flow with vulgar talk, they have every right to fire them. Questions?

Sorry if you aren't in the majority of the subscribers that the operators are afraid will bolt because of lurid descriptions of raping women. Maybe you'll have to shop around for something even more disgusting that fewer sensible people are members of.

I listen to ESPN, Fox Sports, the Country Music channels and some of the talk show stuff, and the MLB...

Now, of course, I can get most of that locally but I always liked the idea that I could listen to the same channel for miles and miles without having to scan..

I will probably tune in to Opie and Anthony when they come back just to see what the fuss is all about..

I am not offended by free speech.. I hope more looney tunes talk more..

Don’t worry Pelosi is already on the case as she tries to re-introduce the “Fairness Doctrine.”
