Right, yeah, and I still read the auspices. Sorry that you (and some other like-”minded” FReepers) prefer to heap abuse and ridicule on people based on your misrepresentation of their views.

So let's review:
1. You post an article that says, in effect, "hydrogen can't work as fuel, it will never work, ever ever ever, and if you think it can or think it's worth pursuing in spite of current obstacles, you are an idiot and should just shut up because I never want to hear you talk ever ever ever so keg your bunghole la la la la la I can't heeeeear yooooouuuu"
2. Others respond that in spite of current obstacles, perhaps it may be just a bit early to write off hydrogen as impossible, and therefore it stands to reason the article is perhaps showing just a little of a defeatist nature. That point was made by posting comments in regard to similar claims of "it'll never happen" in the past (the Wright Brothers, antibiotics, man on the moon, etc.), and our knowledge of how well those claims worked out.
3. You somehow become convinced that those comments are directed at you personally, and lash out.

Look, it's easy to misinterpret what people write. The written word is a great educational medium, but it positively sucks as a means of communication, given that a huge -- and I do mean hugh! -- percentage of the message we interpret from others comes from something other than the words that are used. Those other signals that we rely on are missing in written words. So I can see how you might have felt you were being ridiculed. While I'll admit to not reading all the replies, I didn't see anything thrown at you, but rather at the snarky, dismissive attitude of the author of the article you chose to post. So while I can't apologize for your possible misinterpretation of the target of the replies, I am sorry if that is indeed what has happened here. If, however, you posted this in the hopes of finding a way to be offended, well, congratulations. You got what you wanted.

Liquid hydrogen is a complete non-starter as a vehicle fuel, unless the vehicle in question is going into space and will be fueled immediately before takeoff. The problem is that hydrogen can only be kept as a liquid at cryogenic temperatures. It is not possbile to keep it a liquid at ambient temperatures. So the alternatives are storing it as a compressed gas, under insanely high pressures or, more likely, storing it as some sort of chemical compound, like in metal hydrides or such. But that adds a lot of weight. Maybe not too much, though. And then there’s the whole issue of producing an affordable, durable mobile fuel cell, but that’s just a technical issue that can probably be overcome with time.
