I don't understand why there’s so many Rudy haters here. He is conservative enough for me, but then again, I think there’s more than just ABORTION voters are concerned about. Rudy has broad appeal that a all the other candidates DON'T HAVE.

Abortion is a big issue and lots of folks tie it into the lack of morality that liberalism has infected into our society. Rudy’s one MAIN stron point with the strong Right (not Ultra) is the fact that he is strong on national security which many of those folks place at the top of the priority list. Don’t believe he is real friendly to the 2nd Amendment folks though. IF someone with a strong conviction in national defense shows up to the party, Rudy could lose a good deal of support.

It isn't just abortion where Giuliani disagrees with the majority of Republicans and the Republican Party Platform. Giuliani is more often in agreement with Hillary and the Democrats than he is with Republicans.

Okay... how about 2nd Amendment support - Guiliani is against it.

How about gay rights? Guiliani is for them.

Abortion? As we've already covered, Guiliani is pro-choice (with the typical "personally opposed" fig leaf)

Illegal immigrants? Guiliani made NYC a "sanctuary city", thumbing his nose at federal law.

Taxes? Guiliani's support for tax increases outweigh his tax cuts. He also supported Cuomo over Pataki due to Pataki's position of cutting taxes.

War on terror? Prior to 9/11, Guiliani's record on terror was to downplay the terrorist aspect, while using the event to call for additional gun control for law abiding citizens.

Judges? Guiliani called Ginsburg an ideal choice for the US Supreme Court; he has recently said that a "strict constructionist" could rule any way they wanted.

Conservative enough? For whom???

Absolutely. Rudy lied yesterday and said NY wasn't a sanctuary city. He sued the federal government to stop them from enforcing immigration laws in 'his' city. He thinks the second amendment is about hunting.

And he hates ferrets.

http://www.nysunpolitics.com/blog/2007/05/vanity-fairs-crazy-rudy-article.html It’s always worth recapping Giuliani’s famous riposte to a ferret owner who called in to the mayor’s weekly radio show to protest the city’s ban on them as pets:

Rudy: “There is something deranged about you.… The excessive concern you have for ferrets is something you should examine with a therapist.… There is something really, really very sad about you.… This excessive concern with little weasels is a sickness.… You should go consult a psychologist.… Your compulsion about—your excessive concern with it is a sign that there is something wrong in your personality.… You have a sickness, and I know it’s hard for you to accept that.… You need help.”

Also audio of it here: http://www.oliverwillis.com/2007/02/audio_rudy_giul.html

“”Rudy has broad appeal that a all the other candidates DON’T HAVE....””

None of the candidates of either side have the broad appeal that Rudy has, along with likeability and humor and cutting wit and intellect and.......

I don't understand why there’s so many Rudy haters here.

HAAATERS! HAAATERS! Valid criticism is HAAATE!

He is conservative enough for me, but then again, I think there’s more than just ABORTION voters are concerned about.

I agree. There's more than just abortion. There are gun rights. Rudy sucks there. Fighting the gay agenda. Rudy promotes it. CFR. Rudy loves it. Global warming. Rudy's a believer.

And then there's national security. Rudy's main contribution to the WOT is pushing a corrupt crony for the most important anti-terror job in the country.

So you're right. There are many more reasons than abortion to believe that Rudy is supremely unqualified to be the standard bearer for the GOP.

Rudy has broad appeal that a all the other candidates DON'T HAVE.

I don't see it. The guy hosed himself in the one debate so far, and Laura Ingram walked all over him. So much for him being a tough guy. He also cannot stay on message and continually changes his positions regarding abortion.

Maybe if you drink enough Rudy-Aide, the broad appeal becomes apparent. Just like any woman in a bar looks better with enough beer.

This voter is concerned about foreign policy, the Constitution, property rights and returning power to the states. Giuliani fails miserably on all these counts.

“I don’t understand why there’s so many Rudy haters here.”

Uhhh...because it’s a conservative website?

“Rudy has broad appeal that all the other candidates DON’T HAVE.”

Broad appeal to whom? Socialists? And why would any of us care?
