If his intellect is so great, how come he keeps fumbling every time he is asked a semi difficult question.

No, he even gets tripped on the easy ones. Like, "Do you think it would be a good thing if Roe v. Wade was overturned?" That one is a no-brainer.

The only real difference between Rudy and Clinton is Clinton was a more gifted liar.

Ding! We have a winner!

I think there is a difference between honest debates between, and about, all of the Republican candidates, and an organized “swift-boating” of one of them.

Last I checked, the Swifties sank Kerry by telling the truth about his past. Since when is telling the truth about someone a bad thing?

I’ve done some studying lately and found that some here, including the owner of this forum, had attacked George W. Bush in a similar manner when he was first running for President.

And many of the concerns expressed about Bush back then have come to haunt the GOP since - especially spending in the guise of compassionate conservatism.

However, at least Bush was half conservative. Rudy's maybe 20 percent and shrinking every time he opens his yap.

Careful now, you make too much sense for the “it’s my way or the highway crowd”.

If you think Rudy is the best we’ve got to offer, we deserve to lose.

If hard core conservatives stay home because he is the nominee, we most certainly will lose.

Funny, a lot of the Rudy critics have no problem with someone like Fred who is still somewhat to their left.

So much for "my way or the highway." With Rudy, it's just simply "no way" - no way a pro-abort pro-gun-control and anti-so-many-things-conservative is suitable as the standard-bearer for the party.

This violates Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment: “Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican.” For all we know, you could be shilling for MoveOn.org or George Soros. You can talk up other Republicans without tearing one down... leave that for the drive-by media.

See Post #53 and well as Post #88 and maybe you'll start to get a clue about why you're post is so wrong.

Also, read some more of what Reagan said not just the too oft-repeated 11th commandment stuff:

"We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn't make any sense at all."
--Ronald Reagan, 1965

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.
I do not believe I have proposed anything that is contrary to what has been considered Republican principle. It is at the same time the very basis of conservatism. It is time to reassert that principle and raise it to full view. And if there are those who cannot subscribe to these principles, then let them go their way."
-- Ronald Reagan, March 1, 1975

I agree 100%. Which is PRECISELY why we should NOT nominate a LIBERAL!!!

Did Ronald Reagan have anything to say about Republican men coming to the convention in pumps and dresses?

I’ll have to search for Darwin Central. I tried typing in www.darwincentral.com but nothing but some search page showed up. I’ll google it.

Anyhow, obviously it wasn’t Darwin Central that was the basis for my comment. Never heard of Mojo or Steve Gilbert. Now I’ll have to google those names. LOL

I take it that you are denying that you were already a FReeper using a different screenname, or four, but probably no more than 30. I don’t know if you ever stabbed the owner in the back, but I do believe there was a time where you were no longer welcome here...but that was several years ago. FR does tend to flip-flop from time to time. LOL

What's mysterious about it? Rudy's at the far left of the GOP. Those on the right side of the party are appalled at the possibility of him winning the nomination and facilitationg wholesale remodeling of the GOP platform.

That's not the mystery I'm talking about. Nevermind. :)

Hatred and name calling and blaming others are a sure sign of diverting attention from one’s own weaknesses.

I don't understand why there’s so many Rudy haters here. He is conservative enough for me, but then again, I think there’s more than just ABORTION voters are concerned about. Rudy has broad appeal that a all the other candidates DON'T HAVE.

It isn't just abortion where Giuliani disagrees with the majority of Republicans and the Republican Party Platform. Giuliani is more often in agreement with Hillary and the Democrats than he is with Republicans.

I defy you to find a more liberal Republican presidential candidate in the history of the United States

Dont have much background in history do you? Name Rockefeller mean anything to you? Or Nixon for that matter. We can thank him for wage and price controls, taking us off the gold standard, creating the Environmental Protection Agency. How about John Anderson? And dont forget, Barry Goldwater. He was pro-choice, for gay rights, and very suspicious of the Religious Right. Know as Mr. Conservative, Reagan got his political start campaigning for him.

I personally hope our nominee is Fred Thompson, but failing that I fear another repeat of '92, where hard core conservatives taught the Republicans a lesson, and we got 8 years of slick willie.
