Tonight I Cried
Debbie Argel Bastian

Posted on 05/08/2007 11:18:33 PM PDT by debbieargel

Tonight I cried. I really cried. I miss my son Derek, each and every waking minute. He was,is, and always will be my hero. He did not question his mission, as I'm sure he knew what the majority of Americans do not realize, and that is the real threat we face. He fought for democracy in Iraq, knowing that we face global terror if that is not obtained. He fought for the United States, his family, his son's future, and the continued freedom for the citizens of his country. He loved this President and admired the faith and courage he had in knowing the outcome of failure. For my son, I will continue on this mission. I will continue to ask for Sandy Berger to become a man and take a lie detector test. I will ask the Clinton's to do the same. I will pray for those in Congress to have the strength to invoke the Logan Act on Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid for their part in embolding the enemy. I will pray for the continued strength of the Patriot Guard and the VietNam Veterans who don't want to see this again. I will pray for the help I need to uncover the corruption in Congress, and dismiss those that are guilty. I will pray that our country once again demands that we are, "One Nation, Under God." I don't wipe away my tears anymore. As one wonderful soldier told me at Walter Reed, "It is part of my story." Tonight I cried. I don't want sympathy, nor would my son. He is, and always will be a patroit, a loyal American, and a warrior for the cause of freedom.

Debbie Proud mom of Capt. Derek Argel

Every morning my children and I pray for, among other things, our troops and their safety and their victory. Your post this morning reminded me that we must also daily lift up the families of those who serve, with solemnity and deep gratitude. And so we did.

My heart breaks for you and for such a costly sacrifice you and your family have made on our behalf. May all your prayers be answered, and may we be found worthy of such a price.

May God be merciful to your son Derek. May He shine His face upon you and give you strength to persevere. Be comforted by our Savior's love for you and your departed son.

Your son is a hero. This cannot be taken from you or him. The politicians you mention are not worthy to shine your son's shoes.

My condolences on your loss. He, along with all of them that we lose, are true heroes. Thank you for raising such a good man and thank you for your sacrifice. As to Senator Reid et al. and the press, I hope and pray for karma in the biggest of ways. May justice be done at the end of the day...

I see why your son is a hero. His mom is priceless... Thank you!

No greater love is there than one who lays down his life for another.

God Bless you and Derek, Debbie.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things.
The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic
feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse.
The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight,
nothing which is more important than his own personal safety,
is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless
made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
John Stuart Mill (1806-1873)

Your son was fighting for more than freedom for the Iraqi’s...Sure that is a part of it...

He was fighting for freedom for America...for you and me and all the generations to come after him...

If we do not fight there, we will surely be fighting here one day.

Yesterdays arrest of the terrorists in the FT. Dix plot proves it.

He gave his life so blood doesn’t flow in the streets here at home. Suicide bombers at the mall....Terrorists blowing away school children.

I know your pain is beyond description. No greater love than this...to lay down his life for a friend...

Friend in the terms of countryman...

Hugs for you..

Thank you for raising such a fine young man...Thank you for his sacrifice and for yours..

His earthly race is run and he is in the arms of peace..

One day, every tear will be wiped away.
