Makes as much, if not more, sense than holding them on Tuesdays, so that everyone has to show up at the polls before work or after work, meaning they have to be set up to handle more people at one time. The equipment and people to do that are wasted for most of the day.
There is a time and a place for everything under the sun, *perhaps* the election of Sarkozy will portend a more serious response to Islamic Terror on the part of Europe as well as better less stand offish relations between our two countries.
Victory is to be savored, because defeat tastes very very bitter indeed.
"Le schadenfreude".
Hillary, yes.
I wouldn’t term Bill as a socialist. IMO Bill wasn’t moonbat enough to get the nomination today.
A wonderful day in Europe. Merkel, Sarkozy, Britain (Blair and the Conservatives are pro-American).
Because socialism is our enemy, here and abroad. It's always encouraging to see socialists take it in the shorts, if nothing else for the entertainment value of seeing their outrage at being put out of power. You can bet they're raising hell about this over at DU. I may even work up the stomach to go take a look.
arkozy added that he wanted to tell his “American friends that they can rely on our friendship ... France will always be next to them when they need us.”
But, he added, “Friends can think differently.”
He then called on the United States “not to impede” in the fight against global warming. “On the contrary, they must lead this fight because humanity’s fate is at stake here.”
“This is a great opportunity for France. A great day for France, and a great day for Americans. A strong, pro-American France as a friend, ally, and trading partner is very important to us.”
You’re right, this is a great day for France, she is taking her first step by rejecting Royal’s tried and failed socialist anti-American rhetoric. Sarkozy’s problem now is the entrenched French bureaucrats, elitists and communists who will never allow him to institute the much needed reforms to France’s economy. I lived in France, I know the power the farmers and truckers have, they can bring the entire country to a virtual halt. All other French presidents have backed down from their threats, strikes and riots, now let’s wait and see if Sarkozy has the balls to do what has to be done. I hope he does, I sincerely mean that, but I’m not holding my breath.
I am hopeful. This could be for France what 1979 was to Great Britain and 1980 was to the United States.
A happy day! It is indeed time for us all to lift our boycotts on French goods and reward them for their decision to remain a part of the West.
Well said, Cincinna. I was deeply disappointed in French's actions leading up to the Iraq war, but I tried not to be like Muslims who hated the Israelis. After all, France is always in love/hate relationship with the US...
The dems are going to cry... A French who likes America
Take AlQaeda out and the Dems have no cause in congress... AQ seem to only be agent for the Dem party... from KLA in Kossovo to today in Iraq.
I've been to France against my own will. I at least give the French credit for one thing...they call their left wing candidates what they are...Socialists. Did you see what Royal advocates? As a typical Socialist she wants to spend money France doesn't have to solve every social ill. Even left wing Keynesian Economists in Europe know she is just promising the world in order to garner power with no chance in Hell that she can deliver solutions to the sheeple's problems through government.

Which is why it is a good thing that she has lost by such a large margin, and to a candidate who at least recognizes that Islamofascism is a threat to their country.
“VIVE LA FRANCE! VIVE LES ETATS-UNIS!!!”
Oui!!!
YEAY Sarkozy!
watching fox news, seems some anarchist are rioting in some cities.
LOL... or Canada!
Love that photo and comment!
