MSNBC, Politico Torpedoed Giuliani [Dick Morris Alert!!]
NewsMax ^ | May 5, 2007 | Dick Morris & Eileen McGann

Posted on 05/04/2007 9:57:30 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

John McCain bounced back in the first Republican presidential debate and breathed new life into his faltering candidacy.

His answers were strong: he faced the camera squarely, and scored big with his circa-2000 attacks on pork spending and special interests. He was both passionate and articulate. His sole bad moment came with his fumbling answer about why he opposed the Bush tax cuts. But for a candidate who seemed to have lost his way, McCain did very, very well.

That said, there was a major bias in the debate. MSNBC and Politico deliberately marginalized Giuliani and steered far too many of the important questions to anybody not named Rudy. In doing so, they paid homage to their Democratic Party masters by diminishing the candidate most likely to win in November.

The other two winners were Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee.

Romney, who had the most face time of all of the candidates, showed himself to be the handsome, well-spoken candidate that he is. While his account of his flip-flops on abortion was not convincing, his homilies to family, God and country will sound good to Republican ears.

Huckabee (disclosure: a former client) was the most original and interesting of the candidates. His unique style came through when he defended his pro-life views by asking why, if we "move heaven and earth" to find hikers lost on Mt. Hood or in a coal mine, we don't defend human life in the womb. His explanation of how his faith leads him to embrace global stewardship in the face of climate change and to want to punish Enron-style executives who fleece their workers was both novel and intriguing.

Rudy Giuliani underperformed in the debate.

by diminishing the candidate most likely to win in November

I am getting so sick of this mantra. How in the hell can Morris, since he is so sure Chthullo gets the nomination for the 'rats, figure that the US is going to make that choice when offered a New York Liberal Attorney by both parties? How does he or anyone else know that more US voters will vote for the candidate most recently seen wearing a dress in public?

IF the GOP is stupid enough to run JulieAnnie up against Chthullo, she will demolish him in the general by doing what the 'rats did to take back congress last year -- running to the right of their opponnent.

JulieAnnie ain't the only one willing to cross dress for a few votes...

I totally agree.

Morris is rooting for McCain - why I don’t know - the media would rip McCain apart in just a few days. And .. all it would take was just ONE ON-AIR EXPLOSION from McCain - and Hillary would be in the WH.

I think most repubs know that and that’s why they don’t support him.

Morris is all wrong. McCain sure did not win the debate. He came across not well at all. And Rudy did himself in.

Huckabee (disclosure: a former client)

Dick Morris used to suck Mike Huckabee's toes? Creepy.

Hugh Hewitt said the media wants McCain because they have already made plans on how to take him down - they will attack him because of his cancer, and also because of his violent temper.

If people think Dean melted down after his “Dean scream” .. that’s nothing compared to what the media will do with a McCain meltdown on TV. And .. I can just see it now .. commercial after commercial showing an out of control McCain and an atom bomb explosion. Hillary would seem mild by comparison.

Morris was sucking toes, not watching the debate.

Most important, Rooty was taken down a notch.

Giuliani was not "sandbagged" at all. For him to show up for this debate completely unprepared to answer a question that was certain to be asked was actually quite remarkable -- and devastating for his aspirations.

The man is pro-choice. Ok... we understand that... I disagree with it.. .NEXT

Why can't HE ever answer these questions as succinctly as his supporters do?

He actually let them live on his campaign bus.

Can you imagine the photos and video footage and audio tape they undoubtedly have, just waiting to roll with it?

Not that there aren't plenty out there already just from McStain's public appearances.

McStain and the leftwing mayor are the libmedia's chosen candidates, the ones they hope to promote to the nomination, and then use to split the Party Of Reagan asunder for generations and send us back to the political wilderness for another forty years. End Game: destroy the Right, destroy the Reagan Coalition, elect Hitlery or Obama. More likely, Hitlery for eight and then Obama for another eight.

It’s mind-boggling to me that any “conservative” would allow the media that close a look. They distort everything.

But .. that’s McCain’s style .. he loves the attention from the media.

My objection to McCain came in 2000, when he held his shadow convention (or whatever they called it), and there was his wife standing on the stage with him WEARING A HILLARY PIN. That told me everything I wanted to know about the McCain’s.

General rule I follow. Don’t listen to RINO pundits like Hugh Hewitt. Anyone who kisses the butts of big government liberals like Arnie Schwarzy is not a stable conservative. If McCain implodes, which is likely, so be it.

The candidate conservatives need to concentrate on taking down right now is the liberal gun grabbing, gay loving, amnesty pushing abortionist, Rooty Ghouliani!

I watched part of the “debate” but became tired of hearing one candidate while the camera was on anther candidate. It happened too many times not to be part of a plan. I have NEVER seen a worse job by professional cameramen.

Mark Levin and even Rush thought it was Sandbagged and im using Mark Levins quote. He got less time then everyone else and all they did was ask him about abortion, over and over. They did it because he is in the lead, and he can beat the libs. They fear him. Mark Levin and Rush are 2 of the most conservative people I can think of, and they said it.

Well .. to say you believe Hugh Hewitt is a RINO .. LOL .. that’s really laughable.

Were you aware that it was Hugh Hewitt’s “pledge” via his radio program that caused the repubs to get their act together. Hugh told them to their faces: and I listen to his program so I know he did - if you support the democrats withdrawal plan .. we will no longer send you funds .. PERIOD!

The senate and the house were stunned .. but it proved to be correct. The repubs were not listening to the base and the base was outraged that the repubs were caving to the dems all the time. We wanted them to fight and stand up for conservative principles. How can that compute to Hugh being a RINO!

You are way off base here!

>>>>>You are way off base here!

Hardly.

Even Joe Lieberman and Rudy Giuliani supports Bush in the battle for Iraq. One issue doesn't make a conservative. Hewitt's a moderate at best. What I like to call, a centrist. Wishy-washy on far too many issues. Rush likes to say, moderate is another word for liberal. Hewitt always seems to be picking and choosing his fights to suit his own personal agenda. An agenda that appears very neocon-ish. Backing some issues that enjoys support among certain Republicans, doesn't make Hewitt a conservative.

This is a similar situation that exists with Sean Hannity and a several other prominent Republican`s. Hewitt's support for the liberal RINO Arnie Schwarzy and his support for the candidacy of the liberal RINO Rooty Ghouliani doesn't indicate high conservative brain function. You consider those two men conservatives? You call their politics conservative? LMBO Nuff said!

Sorry, never have liked Hugh Hewitt and probably never will. OTOH, even a broken clock is right twice a day. I'll give kudos to anyone who advances conservatism. And I will attack anyone who promotes RINOism, liberalism, or any type of centrist politics.
