Progressive rock, sometimes shortened to prog or prog rock, is a subgenre of rock music which arose in the mid-to-late 1960s, reached the peak of its popularity in the 1970s and has continued as a form of popular music to this day. It is commonly associated with symphonic rock and art rock.
The selections below are just a sampling. This music is provided for the entertainment of our Troops, Veterans, Allies & their families!
Enjoy the varity of musical selections that the Canteen Deejays have provided throughout the thread. Please ping LaurenMarlowe with your requests for the Troops.

Angel - Jon Secada
I, I can’t read the future
But I still want to hold you close
Right now, I need that from you
So give me the morning
Sharing another day with you
Is all I want to know
And baby I, I’ve tried to forget you
But the light of your eyes
Still shines like an Angel
A spirit that won’t let me go
And I, I didn’t want to tell you
Things I didn’t wanna know myself
I was afraid to show
But you, you gave me a reason
A reason to face the truth, oh yes you did
To face the truth, face the truth
Face the truth
And baby I, I’ve tried to forget you
But the light of your eyes
Still shines, shines, shines like an Angel
A spirit that won’t let me go
Won’t let me go, let go of my heart
And baby I, I’ve tried to forget you
But the light of your eyes
Still shines like an Angel
A spirit that won’t let me go
Won’t let me go, my Angel

Thanks, Kathy. Oh, he was a champion to the end, a very special horse.
Well, I’m happy for StreetSense, the jockey and the owner. I’ll bet it was exciting to watch; I missed it...:)

Greetings Freeper Canteeners alfa6 checking in for the Saturday Sortie. No problems with bad weather here in Kansas City but the folks down in south central Kansas can use your prayers. Central Kansas is not looking to good at the moment 8:30pm CDT several tornado warnings are up for Great Bend and I think Ellsworth Ks. Hope all they hit are fields or a stray out building.
A quick look at the MiG-17 (NATO name Fresco-A) to continue on our adventure with the Soviet fighters. When it first came out NATO thought that the MiG-17 was a stretched version of the -15. That was not to be the case. The MiG-17 was a new design intended to correct the handling shortcomingsd of it older brother. The fuselage was lenghtened, thw ings had a 45degree sweep and a new angular tail was added. The larger fuselage allowed for improvements in the internal layout and the other changes greatly enhanced the aircrafts stability. The -17 was powered at first by the same Klimov KV-1 jet engine. The next version of the MiG-17 the Fresco-C, had an afterburning version of the KV-1. A fixed scan radar was added to the MiG-17 which was called Fresco-D. The final version of the Fresco had the guns deleted with 4 missles in thier palce making it the first Soviet Interceptor. Max speed of the MiG-17F, Fresco-D, was about 711mph at 10,000ft. The cannons remained pretty much the same as the MiG-15 altjhough some Frescos had an extra 23mm gun in place of the 37mm cannon.
One final note there are about a dozen of the MiG-17s still flying most of them in the United States. Well on with the pics.
First an almost head on pic :-(
Next up another infile shot of the previous aircraft. Check out the wing fences to help with stability and of course that massive marshmellow roaster out the back.
Here's one for BIGLOOK, guns or rockets?
Here is one of the US MiGs in polish markings. Hat tip to Bill Proffit for the next two pics.
Just where you want to be, at the MiGs 6 O'clock.
To close out the Sotire a nice inflight shot of restored MiG-17
Hope everybody has a great week out there.
Regards
alfa6 ;>}

There was a great oldies song...I think it was called, “All I Have to do is Dream.” Maybe it was called, “Dreamin’ My Life Away.” I think it was by Ricky Nelson?
:-) Do you have access to that one? OR do you even know what in the heck I’m talkin’ about???
:-o
To: AZamericonnie
Precious one...I will...and you have a wonderful Lord’s Day, also. ;-)
It’s almost time for my bed.
We go to early Church, so we leave early to be there on time! ;-)
We have 2 couples coming for lunch afterwards, so I have to get up earlier than usual.
I want to put Magnolia blossoms for my centerpiece.
I looked at one of my trees today and there they were!!!
But I’ll wait until the morning before I cut them.
Well, enough for tonight...
God bless you and yours Connie. Many *hugs* for you.
Thank you for all you do for our TROOPS!!!
