Today the President attended the National Day of Prayer ceremony in the East Room of the White House. ( NOTE FROM SNUGS: In my opinion I have never heard such a powerful Christian message by any public figure let us a world leader that the President gave today - see quote of the day.)
He also addressed a meeting on immigration and assimilation at the Asamblea de Iglesias Cristianas, Centro Evangelistico in Washington, D.C.
The White House announced today that the Vice President will make a 6 day trip to the Middle East next week to meet with Arab leaders and speak with U.S. troops in the Persian Gulf region. Scheduled stops include Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates. It is only just over two months after the Vice President's globe-circling journey that may have contributed to a blood clot in his leg so this must be encouraging news that this is no longer a major concern to his doctors for him to be making such a trip.
Today Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is at an international conference on Iraq in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
Today Secretary of Defense Robert Gates greets troops returning home for a two-week leave at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in Grapevine, Texas and he also spoke at a luncheon in Dallas.

I would say middling number - just about right in fact enough to enjoy but not a heavy number that makes it hard organizing.

Well, I moved, fell in love, my mama has a mild form of dementia and things just got scattered. But I am collecting myself again and hope to get back to conversation again! I miss this board - it's just been so much else going on and politics in the last year has been hurting me too much to be involved in.
But I still love our President and have continued to listen to him and pray for him. I hope to get back on the prayer board also.
Love, love, love the photos of our gracious and faithful President.

Sky News is wall to wall local council elections. Funny story re my vote. I was on an Internet chat room and someone asked me if I had voted. I had it in my mind that it was next week. This was said to me 10 mins before polls close at 10.00pm. I quickly answered off to vote now and ran out the door to polling station which luckily is only less than a minute from my house.
So I made it by the skin of my teeth.

I don’t understand the context of her mentioning health care to you, but I am just sorry that something like that had to go and upset your day, and practically ruin your plans for the trian trip. Where are you going, BTW? Sounds fun!

He’s probably an insurance salesman - selling extended care coverage! LOL
What he said is possibly quite true - it’s horrendously expensive. But not a great time to bring that up.
Sounds like he thinks you’re spending your money too fast!
Nosy guy.

Great to see you back hope things are now getting back to some normality and life it settling down.
It certainly has been a rollercoaster few weeks for me with dad in hospital for nearly 7 weeks with broken hip and elbow and other health issues.
Latest on dad is that he had his MRI scan today, will get the results tomorrow, prayers asked that this will be a good result even if it does not show what the problem with the head pains are. Also I would ask for prayers for me as I have a meeting with his care manager Clare Baker to discuss what is needed for his return home.

The Queen looks like she is having fun...I like her hat (note how it matches her outfit) and I note she still carries a purse around. She is going to the Kentucky Derby on Sat and W is hosting a State Dinner for her but I do not know what day...

Absolutely! Prayers up for you and your dad. I went through along illness with my daddy and now face some tough times ahead with my mama. It’s hard to be the caretaker when our parents took such good care of us.
I would like to ask for prayers also with my mama - that she keep her dignity (and even her stubbornness) for the duration. She’s been my biggest fan all my life and I realize that I am hers.

Congratulations

I just talked with my daughter. She said I was going to have to talk with my granddaughter to get some pointers on what to say when people act too nosy. Sure, I have some mimer now, and will probably have lots more in the future if our plans work out the way we want them to. I am not going on a trip like this train trip every other month and frankly it was none of her business what I spend my money on. She had discussed this trip with her husband and he was the one who told her to tell me that about extended care. Well, my daughter brought up the point that I am spending money on them now and they will do the same in the future if I need help. I did get one point across to her, though. I said that I do not know if I will even be here in the near future and it would be disgusting to know that I had this chance and did not take it. I cried most of the night. It was that plus the fact that our wedding anniversary was on 5 April, my mother’s bd was the 26th of April and hubby’s bd is coming up on 13 May. I am not one to cause trouble for anyone else and try not to hurt anyone’s feeling but I just do not understand some people. I would never, ever talk about financial matters with someone I see once or twice a week. Oh, well. There is always tomorrow and it has to be better! God said so and that is that!!!
