Not when it involves the government taking over one seventh of the economy, no.
Are you aware that Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, and John Kerry all LOVE MittCare?
“and his complete change of position on virtually everything important once he needed a different universe of voters votes.”
Please list the “virtually everything important” please.
It's all socialism.
Abortion.
The gay agenda.
Guns.
Judicial supremacy. [Though this one may not count, since everything he says still screams judicial supremacy.]
Socialized medicine.
“Not when it involves the government taking over one seventh of the economy, no.”
Mitt’s plan does not involve in any way the gov’t taking over one seventh of the economy. Total hyperbole on your part and points out your inability to understand his plan as posted by me. Perhaps a re-read on your part is in order.
Of course you don't discuss his personal life (you're sounding a whole lot like a Liberal there). He's lived most conservatively, and you wouldn't want to tarnish your Liberal perception of him, or the Liberal image of him you have been attempting to paint on FR.
When people live by conservative values, it speaks volumes about what they truly believe. Rush often says that about average people. It's true of extraordinary people like Mitt as well.
I’ve read the plan several times. It’s socialized medicine, complete with taxpayer-funded abortions.
How do you feel about having to pay for Massachusetts liberals to kill their kids?
Again, I’ve kept the discussion on his public policies, policies which you continue to ignore.
“I agree with your stand. But I’m not scratching Romney for it. “
You can’t do both and still be credible. One or the other must be discarded.
NO, it's only socialized medicine if everybody has to have it AND the government pays for it. Which is not Mitt's plan. By your standards, auto insurance is "socialized."
Under MittCare, either you’re forced to pay for it, whether you like it or not, or whether you need it or not, or businesses are forced to pay for others’ plans, or the government pays for it. All of these aspects make it socialized medicine.
When it comes to the ills of our health care services in this country, government involvement is the root of all evil.
No candidate agrees with me on all the issues. By your standard every time I pick a candidate, I'm discarding my stand on some issues. Really, that's so unreasonable it's laughable.
February 17, 2007:
In yesterday’s interview on ABC, Romney added: “Let me tell you, in the general election I don’t recall ever once voting for anyone other than a Republican. So, yeah, as an independent I’ll go in and play in their primary. But I’m a Republican and have been through my life.”
Main article: Political positions of Mitt Romney
Romney holds pro-life views, though in 1994 he said he supported abortion rights because a relative died as the result of an illegal abortion.[46] In a March 15, 2007 interview with Larry King, Romney explained that while governor he adapted his political position on abortion when the idea of cloning human embryos for the purpose of harvesting stem cells became an issue of debate in his state.[47] He supports the death penalty, charter schools, and sentencing under the three strikes law.[48][49][50] He opposes both same-sex marriage and civil unions, and has renounced his support for domestic partnership benefits.[
Everyone has to have auto insurance, and I have never heard anyone say auto insurance is socialized. Requiring that everyone have it, has nothing to do with whether or not it is socialized.
You have an all or nothing way of thinking that is intellectually dishonest and misleading, EV. It unfortunately hurts your credibility.
LOL, I’ve been grinding my teeth too. : )
I'm not the one being forced to justify gross liberalism. That would be you.
Principle may be ridiculous in your circle, but in mine, it is the rule. If I see evidence of gun grabbin, I see a traitor to the natural order. All law abiding American citizens have a natural right to self defend with the best of contemporary weapons. No compromise.
Typical of Mitt's propensity to take both sides, no matter how incompatible, and spit them out in one breath.
