Hunter answered questions with specifics - he was great tonight.

I used to be a huge Ron Paul fan. But in recent years I find him too “out there” much more often than I agree with him.

After watching the entire debate, I decided to send $1,000 to Ron Paul.

How I wish the Republicans would strive for the true conservative small government principles.

Hey, we’ll all get our own vote November ‘08. Mine is going to be Mitt.

Huckabee never actually makes a decision and says no.

He's got a weird combover too. The effect is about like Hairplug Joe Biden.

Not ready for primetime. Besides, we can't take any chances with Arkansas again.

Brownback, Romney, and Hunter were effective.

Ron Paul is just out there.

McCain and his stupid veto line was overused.

Thompson rambled on far too much.,

Guiliani is a liberal.

Huckabee didn’t get to say a whole lot.

Between Jim Gilmore and Tancredo, neither of them really said anything to swing supporters to their side.

Paul believes perjury is a crime whether it was by Bill Clinton or Scooter Libby. What is wrong with that postiion?

As I heard it, he said Libby should not be pardoned - but not because of what he did or didn't do relating to perjury. Rather, he should be in prison because the administration lied to lead us into a war.

If I misheard, someone correct me.

Your list looks like a good one. Add Thompson to it later I hope. I was actually impressed with some of Gilmore's answers. I don't know enough about his history in VA. though.....others can fill me in. Romney did very well. He is the most articulate. He hit some notes that people understand.

Yep. Thompson is my list of possibilities if he enters. I liked Huckabee at CPAC, too, but I haven't really looked into any of his positions or record (nor Gilmore). The other folks would not be my choice though, for a variety of reasons. Hunter has been consistently good. Romney just seems too slick, although he's got that Hollywood image that seems to attract so many who vote on charisma and such.

Stop trying to ruin the only candidate who can defeat Guiliani.

Where have we heard this kind of argumentation before?

I agree with your long term assessment. The only difference is that I think McCain will wear down and drop out and leave it a 3 man race with FredThompson, Mitt Romney, and then Giuliani, who I think will trail the other two with conservatives not voting for him.

Id agree mostly on that order but 7 of those men will NEVER be elected. We have to look at reality. They have no star power. Morality vs Electablity is always been an issue with me. Do I hold firm and nominate someone like Dole.. and lose, and now we have a Devil in Office (i.e. Hillary) - or vote for someone who has 80% of what I like.

As for Mit.. Yes he flipped on Abortion, but so did Ronald Reagen. The man signed the most liberal abortion law as Gov of CA, and in later life the man became a huge pro life advocate. People do change. I was impressed with him. but, I still think Mccain or Rudy are going to win the nomination, and you will see them both on the ticket.

A lot of republicans want the star power because they simply want to see an (R) next to the winners name.

Unless, Thompson jumps into the ring.. then all bets are off.

He’s a Liberaltarian from Texas who like Rudy and McLame are strong on a couple of Conservative issues but squishy on the rest of them.
