Excuse me, but the virulent hatred began right here on FR for anyone who dared to say anything positive about Rudy.

As for Thompson, I am so glad he just noticed that Moveon.org/Soros is controllng the Dem party.

Er ah, yes, we knew that way back during the 2004 elections Fred. Were you napping?

Sorry, but the virulent hatred began long ago when a group of posters decided that criticism of Bush on FR was not to be allowed without gang counterattacks.

But many of the points of criticism ended up leading to the GOP downfall in 2006. And others led to the bloated spending that Bush and the GOP leadership rang up.

Should we, perhaps, look up some of your less-than genteel posts before Rudy was even a candidate for the 2008 nominations?

I guess personal attacks are OK as long as it's your side doing it.

Oh please.

It began with Rudy fans smearing the record of anyone who wasn't as pro-abortion or anti-gun as Rudy.

The concerted effort to pull conservatives into Rudy's liberal gutter got the reaction it deserved.

Please post your proof that this is the first time Fred has been concerned about leftists running things.

What a weak, pathetic comment. You people have NOTHING.

What makes you think he just noticed? I didn’t get the impression last night that it was a recent revelation to him.

Because you guys are shilling for an out-and-out liberal on a conservative website. Rudy is nowhere a conservative, just yesterday he co-signed onto Bush's amnesty immigration policy.

We don't hate Rudy, but if some posters got a little emotional, I don't blame them. The days of holding our noses for RINOs are over, IMO.

My problem is not with those who say positive things about Giuliani. My problem is with those who call me a Hillary supporter when I dare point out facts about his record, and say I can’t vote for him.

My problem is not even with those who want to bet the farm on a candidate several different GOP constituencies can’t support — even though that is an objectively risky bet that may negatively affect all of us! My problem is with those who plan to throw those dice, but pre-emptively blame others in the likely case that their own gamble doesn’t pay off.

No Fred was on the case. You must have been the one napping.

Citizens United President David Bossie complained that liberal financier George Soros “has declared war on President Bush and his positive agenda for America.” Bossie promised to do everything within his power to “run counter-ads in support of the President.”

Fred thompson recorded two of those TV counter-ads (”Courage” and “Soldier”) for Citizens United in response to the Soros-funded MoveOn.org ads which were attacking President Bush and the war effort.

“Courage” was produced in March 2003, narrated by former Sen. Thompson, who praised President Bush for invading Iraq. “Thank goodness we have a president with the courage to protect our country,” Thompson said in the ad.

Today’s word, OldFriend, is “hubris”. Can you say that - hubris?
