DEMS ON 'WAR'PATH VS. RUDY - FURY OVER 'SAFER GOP'
New York Post ^ | April 26, 2007 | MAGGIE HABERMAN

Posted on 04/26/2007 3:03:19 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

April 26, 2007 -- Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama laced into Rudy Giuliani yesterday after the GOP front-runner sparked an uproar by declaring America would be more vulnerable to a terror attack with a Democrat in the White House.

Former Sen. John Edwards and the Democratic National Committee also joined in on the anti-Rudy romp, accusing him of politicizing the war on terror in a daylong brawl.

Giuliani chuckled about the swirl of Democratic outrage about his comments, which put the media focus squarely on his strongest point - his 9/11 performance.

"It sounds like I hit at least a triple," Giuliani told radio host Sean Hannity. "I was trying for a home run, but I think I got at least a triple - meaning I have got the three leading Democratic candidates attacking me."

The flap started after Giuliani said in a speech in New Hampshire on Tuesday night that the nation will defeat terrorism no matter who wins in 2008, but that the Democrats want to "wave the white flag."

He told the Web site Politico.com that America will be "safer with a Republican president."

... Giuliani insisted he wasn't questioning the Democrats' patriotism, but added, "Everything I said is absolutely true - they want to retreat in Iraq."

He claimed that the Democrats "do not seem to get the fact there are . . . really dangerous people who want to come here and kill us. That, in fact, they did come here and kill us twice, and they got away with it because we were on defense, because we weren't alert enough to the dangers."

....We need to hit the RATS and hit them hard or there won't be a tomorrow to worry about. Is anyone dumb enough to believe that if the RATS get the House, Senate and Presidency they will leave things as they are so that someday they could lose their power again?....

Can't be said enough.

Good for Hunter.

Reid should crawl back under the rock he came from, but we all know he won’t. What a mealy-mouthed moron.

Rudy struck a nerve - good for him. He said something that should have been said a long time ago.

Bump!!

Let me first say that I don’t support Guiliani for president and I will not be voting for him. He’s too pro-illegal-invader for me to vote for him. I have yet to have a Guiliani supporter explain to me how someone who supports illegal invaders flooding into our country can be considered “strong on terrorism” when terrorists can cross those same open-borders that the illegals cross.

Now, having said that, I find it funny how “tough” the DemocRATS are with anyone who calls them for who they are, rather than those who want to kill us. Mr. Guiliani nailed these surrender monkeys.

It’s just not Bush’s style.

I believe he’s doing more than we realize and history will show a lot of how the world changed because of actions during his administration but he just doesn’t use the bully pulpit and face them down publicly. Probably due to being a third generation politico. During campaigns he goes out and rallies the electorate but he needs to do it between elections. Also, he isn't an orator (most people aren't) and that hurts.

GOP candidates should ideally make their points by seeing who can mount the best attacks on Dem positions, instead of sniping at each other. Good for Rudy! I much prefer Fred right now, but Rudy’s off to a good start

Indeed he is.

There is NO other Republican candidate as capable - or as willing - to hurl bombs toward the Democrats as Rudy. Not Thompson (who admittedly isn't even sure he wants to run). Not Duncan Hunter. Not Romney or McCain. NOT ONE. He is showing us now what kind of campaign he will wage against them in '08. And it's exactly the kind of campaign that must be waged, if we have a chance to win in the electoral atmosphere of 2008.

Rudy had years of this (fighting with liberals and the media) as mayor of New York city. THEY HATED HIM. He fought back, and triumphed.

Rudy is demonstrating that he's "got the stuff" to go hand-to-hand against the Democrats (even though they may retain power after the '08 elections, almost certainly in the House) and come out in good shape.

What have the other candidates done, that shows as much?

We definitely need a leader who will face down the rats, the idiot in Iran, the idiot in Venezuela, the idiot in North Korea, the idiot in Zimbabwe, terrorists coming at us in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. One who will stand with Israel and let the Palestinians ask their fellow Middle Eastern brothers to give them a hand up. A leader who will lean on Sudan for the people in Dufar. Then there is Syria and Lebanon....

Rudy knows there are a lot of pockets of anti-Americanism. He's a quick study and he will delegate. Being from NY, I'm sure he understands the rot called the U.N. as well as the snots over in Europe who have called on us over the years for help and now spit on the idea of our country due to jealousy.

He will act in our interests and they know he will and more and more Americans will begin to see this.

As I’ve noted on other of these threads, none of the Democrats are denying what he said is true. ...
