~Nicknames ~ George Herman Ruth, Jr. (February 6, 1895 August 16, 1948), also known as Babe, The Bambino, The Sultan of Swat, and The Colossus of Clout, was an American Major League baseball player from 1914-1935. Ruth is regarded by many historians and fans as the greatest baseball player of all time, due to a combination of his on-field accomplishments and records; his significant roles both in changing the way baseball is played and in establishing the New York Yankees dynasty; and his resulting worldwide name-recognition. He is a charter member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The cat, nicknamed Macavity, has one blue eye and one green eye.
The cat was nicknamed Macavity after the mystery cat in T.S Elliots poem. He gets on the bus in front of a row of 1950s semi-detached houses and jumps off at a row of shops down the road which include a fish and chip shop.
Driver Bill Khunkhun, 49, who first saw the cat jumping from the bus in January, said: It is really odd, the first time I saw the cat jumping off the bus with a group of passengers. I hadnt seen it get on which was a bit confusing.
The next day I pulled up on Churchill Road to let a couple of passengers on. As soon as I opened the doors the cat ran towards the bus, jumped on and ran under one of the seats, I dont think any of the passengers noticed.
Because I had seen it jump off the day before I carried on driving and sure enough when I stopped just down the road he jumped off - I dont know why he would catch the bus but he seems to like it. I told some of the other drivers on this route and they have seen him too.
Since January, when the cat first caught the bus he has done it two or three times a week and always gets on and off at the same stops.
Passenger, Paul Brennan, 19, who catches the 331 to work, said: I first noticed the cat a few weeks ago. At first I thought it had been accompanied by its owner but after the first stop it became quite clear he was on his own.
He sat at the front of the bus, waited patiently for the next stop and then got off. It was was quite strange at first but now it just seems normal. I suppose he is the perfect passenger really - he sits quietly, minds his own business and then gets off.

I was a linebacker in high school......and I was (and remain) a big fan of the best linebacker to ever play the game....#66 of the GREEN BAY PACKERS (RAY NITSCHKE - HOF).
My coach (Coach Jerry Wonders) gave me that nick-name (team mates concurred) because I was not able to differentiate between “practice” and actual games. I hit everybody with the same ELAN. Just like my IDOL! Hence the “66” after my name.
Rather than going on to college I joined the MARINES (in 1969) and became an artillery gunner.
I hope that answers your question.

Oh, for a while I was indeed "Stinky". It's hard to imagine how powerful a direct stream of skunk "juice" is. Breath-taking in fact. And getting rid of the odor was tough, since we had no running water. It was just basin bath after basin bath. Couldn't afford substantial quantities of tomato juice.
You're right, those original calcium carbide lamps (that is the correct nomenclature, but back then everybody called them "carbide lamps") must be worth a lot nowadays. There are copies, of course, sold in specialty catalogs. It never occurred to us to keep the originals.

Guys and gals in the military can be ruthless with each other, even though everyone knows it’s all in jest.
We’re Nana and Poppa. My better half is FBI (Full-blooded Italian) and that’s what the grandparents are called. We wanted our Piper to call us that, but didn’t push it. We were ecstatic when she did...I think her Momma had something to do with it!
